There were a lot of things that annoyed me in this book but despite all that it's still definitely a 4 star read.

At the start a lot of characters get introduced (I wrote them all down with descriptions so I'd remember lol) so I was kind of anxious that that would happen with all the stories (4 parts), but luckily they all played bigger parts in the rest of the book (and not many more were introduced after story 1)

I was mostly annoyed by the overexplaining of things, infodumps and sometimes unnecessary repeating of things that already happened. A recap can be nice for some but it somewhat annoyed me.

It was however a very emotional and beautiful read and I was pleasantly surprised by this book. At first you think the stories probably won't be connected but it turns out they are and I'm glad that the workers in the cafe had a way bigger role in the book than I expected at first.

Definitely recommend but bring tissues because you will need them!

At times the writing is needlessly repetitive and frustrating, but overall a wonderful, emotional novella with a message of hope.

Normally I don’t read sad-ish books so my rating is a bit lower just cuz of that but I did enjoy the storylines and plot, and the cover is gorgeous which is always a plus.

A basement cafe. A specific chair. A specific set of rules. A coffee pouring ritual. A short time limit. These are all the ingredients you need for time travel in this book.

I wasn't a huge fan of the simplistic writing style. That might just be down to the translation or the author's background as a playwright. You can really tell this was adapted from a play because it's not really a cohesive story but set out in four parts. Each part focuses on a specific reoccuring character as they travel through time and experience a cathartic purging of emotion. For stories based on such character growth, most of the characters you get introduced to have little depth and sometimes that detracted from the emotional tone of what was happening.

However, I enjoyed the mysterious circumstances of the time travel element in this book, the fact that their are so many specific rules, and that you can't just time travel for the sheer fun of it. There seems to be a reasoning behind who gets to time travel and it's just as mysterious as all the rules! But each character who travels through time finds it a cathartic experience, and these experiences make you pause and think about your own life and experiences.

This was a lovely concept and a brilliant execution. Four sweet stories and one incredibly important lesson. This short book was a beautiful read.
