Beautiful setting brought to life, unlike any recent novel I've read with some great characters and concepts. Only niggle was her 'poor rich girl' background but Tuga was painted so vividly it makes me wish it was real to visit.

This was almost at much higher rated book but the ending just came around so quickly after a lovely slow, relaxed build of the story. It felt like 4 or 5 plot points got rapidly wrapped up in the last 25 pages of the book in a way that made each of them feel rushed to a conclusion after having been given such a beautifully slow build...
That being said, I loved the build. The characters of the island are so rich, even those who appeared only briefly. And the dual joy and hardship of life in such a small and isolated community was so beautifully communicated. For all my wish of a slower ending I will absolutely be seeking out the sequel!
