To list one thing I disliked about the story and one thing that made this book superb in my opinion:

There was a little inconsistency when it came to the mMC at the book
e.g. him purposefully making a sexual joke which was just out of character
and it felt like the author needed to figure out which way to go with this character but when she settled with the characteristics and stuff the author wanted he ended up being a well-written and facetted character.

I liked how the less easy topics mentioned/contained in the story were dealt with as it felt quite realistic and thus actually made me emote strongly.
(the ups and downs, the parts were you could swoon, laugh, giggle, hope or cry)

She looked vivid, as if God had painted her features with bolder paints than he used on the rest of the world.

MF - contemporary romance - moderate steam - pov first dual - white MCs - autumn vibes - class gap (wealthy FMC) - mental health rep (PTSD) - hurt comfort - epistolary - grumpy/sunshine - small town - virgin (MMC) - workplace - 5 stars.

Another much darker one -
the FMC had been kidnapped in Latin America while doing humanitarian work and the MMC had escaped from a polygamist cult
- but Zach is, I think, my favorite hero of the series.

Sarina Bowen definitely writes these heroes that are all in, and just like Jude in Steadfast Zach has to realize that he's earned the love and place in the Shipley family.

As with Steadfast, the ONLY thing I didn't like about this book: frequent use of the word
crazy
and one instance of use of the word
slave (in a trivializing manner ie sex slave)

This deals with some heavy topics - it repeatedly touches on Zach’s time in the cult and the effect on his current life, though this isn’t deeply discussed. Lark’s PTSD and recovery are discussed in detail.

I liked both characters, and their romance was sweet. Going to go look for the next in the series.

TW/CW in addition to those below: cult, abduction and imprisonment, PTSD symptoms and breakdown
