Throw together the ice queen and the happy go lucky bull rider PLUS a surprise baby what do you get? The best freaking love story ever.
Winter is extremely closed off after getting screwed over by her ex-husband who is worthless. After one steamy night with Theo she comes to find out that she is pregnant with her miracle baby that she was fighting so long to have with her ex. When she texted him and his freaking PR guy texted her back I was FURIOUS! How could you do that to them dude! BUT it was all made up for when Theo found out and met Vivi for the first time, swear to god my heart melted. Seeing that man instantly bond with that little girl was just amazing. This story had me sucked in the entire time because I relate to Winter when it comes to being a mom.
Seeing the relationship grow and finally them both come together and be together as a family, and seeing them both come through everything from their past. Beautiful absolutely freaking beautiful! Also those two need more babies because they are so good together and seeing Theo be a dad is amazing!

Elsie Silver is just a good writer. I haven’t not liked a book she has written. She is able to write family dynamics, friendships, and relationships with a rawness that I really like. She has a knack of balancing the serious and emotional with lightheartedness and humor. And if you can make your audience like a character like Winter by the end of this book then bravo!
All that to say, this was my least favorite of this series so far. Theo carried this book but at the same time I feel like we didn’t get deep enough with him. It was like we were headed that way, but instead it was just passed over. Winter’s arc was a bit better but we had 3 other books to get us here for her. It was like Elsie was hinting that Theo being so happy and friendly and light was somewhat of a facade and there were a couple moments we could have dug deeper about that but it was addressed so surface level. He ends up coming across as the guy who is the jokester to avoid the hard stuff. The moment he could have really introspectively worked on himself he was written to turn off his phone and go to sleep. BOOO! I also felt that for Winter wanting so badly to reconcile with Summer, not a lot was done on her end to make it happen. Summer still did all the work to get them there. I wish we could have seen her take initiative more, since it was partially her fault for them not having a good relationship. It was like as soon as she had Vivi all was good. I did like Winter’s journey of herself. Working through her own trauma and issues. She did need a guy like Theo to help her get there.
I also wasn’t very sold on their chemistry. They found each other attractive and they both can verbally spar like the best of them. But that’s it. We get a brief interaction before baby then everything they do post baby is wrapped up in parenthood. There weren’t enough moments of just them where they were just themselves so I could see how they fit together outside of parenthood and him reinforcing her self esteem.
