I really enjoyed the audio version of this. Strong female lead with unknown background meets danger, lies, hate, cruelty and possibly love ? Fae, magic, mystery and fun !
The narrator was fantastic

Keera is the Kings favoured assassin, forced to kill for a kingdom that banished her kind. The mysterious Shadow is threatening the King, meaning Keera must travel to the lands of the Fae and decide who the true enemy is - the King that destroyed her people or the Shadow that threatens her peace?
Set in a world full of prejudice and cruelty, this book was not afraid to shy away from heavier themes such as addiction, colonialism and self harm. Keera, a halfling who has lived for decades, carries tremendous guilt from her past as she's forced to kill for a mortal King who hates halflings.
What I liked about A Broken Blade was the morally grey main character. Keera is fierce and strong but also flawed, creating an incredible story that explores themes of depression and growth. The romance was also cute and I hope I see more of it in book 4.
This is a 4 star read based on story alone for me. It would have been 5 stars, but I felt the pacing was a little off with some parts being too slow or too fast.
The side characters, particularly Nikolai, added a 'found family' vibe to the story and they were quite funny. I would have liked to read more about them.
I'll definitely be picking up the next book in the series!
❤️ Sapphic representation

Such a fun read! Definitely hits the tropes so it’s a little familiar at times but it’s amazing to read a fantasy that doesn’t center around an 18 year old, somehow indestructible, girl. Can’t wait to read the sequel!

i'm not gonna lie, this didn't really feel like anything new but the audiobook was great and it made me enjoy Keera a lot more, i prolly wouldn't have been able to finish the book if it wasn't for the audiobook but aside from that, if you want a specific type of story to scratch that itch, this one would do the trick! curious to see what happens in the future books.. also kinda called the plot twist lol
