I overall loved the cozy warm loving feeling of the book and the slice of life type writing style where we are given mundane details about coffee machines and cars and trinkets, I can see this story playing out onscreen as a Hallmark (or insert streaming channel of choice) holiday movie! The cheesy plot-lines, at times cringey dialogue and odd word choices here and there are right in line with those holiday movies even if they are a bit jarring to read!
The descriptive scenery writing was spot on and I was transported to the seasons of the PNW. But I will say one big thing felt off and threw me out of the book:
The story is YA and seems set in a more recent time period due to mention of several things like meet cutes and chatterbox and social media influencers, yet the language used by the characters and references cited by the characters are very much stuck in the 90s. Highschool kids today are not citing “Cliff Notes” or saying “dweeb” and “doofus” and “peckish” and “hunk” (among many other such words). And though I’m sure there might still be high schoolers still obsessed with Shah Rukh Khan, I’m pretty sure the SRK from DDLJ is a relic of the 90s. If some of the more modern references were removed this could easily have been set in the 90s. But if that happened then the India family would have had a very different reaction to the queer romances in the story. So just some logical things threw me off. But despite all that I still enjoyed the book and will read the sequel!

A cute book with a bit of an amateurish writing style and “gimmicks” to set the narrators apart in place of actual different voices, but that didn’t stop me from tearing up at the conversations around grief and diasporic longing.

The author did a great job at writing about different romance plot lines second-chance love, out growing your current partner, not being ready for love etc.
Story 1: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, this story was super cozy and adorable, I can see why people don’t like the love story of it since she starts off in a relationship and falls in love with someone else. I enjoyed that she was fighting with herself because of the box she put herself in. The exploring of understanding who she is was beautiful!! Also the writing was so thoughtful and poetic I was so entranced!
Story 2: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, another amazing story! Having her dig up some difficult life circumstances and having her reflect in how that is affecting her relationships was just … chef’s kiss. It gave the character a lot of depth to me and I loved the coziness of this story.
Story 3: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, it was cute but in my opinion more juvenile than the other stories. I felt that there were some loose ends that I wanted to be tied up. I didn’t feel like I had a deeper understanding of this character when comparing it to the others. I do love the lesbian representation, I just wish there was more depth (I also didn’t get much personality from this character in the other stories so I feel like I didn’t get to know her very well).
Story 4: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5, this was a cute story and because of the other stories and her inside thoughts it was helpful in having some background info on her. I thought this last story was a little cozy, but not as much as the first 2. I’m glad that it brought some closure to the dad’s family issues. A great story to tie up everything from the inn!

Ugh, my heart. I hugged this book after finishing it. I wish it came out when I was fifteen or sixteen! I would have slept with it under my pillow. I love these girls like they’re my real life friends. I don’t know how to explain what I’m feeling, but just know I feel very emotional!!
(I knew I would love this book based off of the cover alone.)

Seems like a really cute book. however I can't get into potential love triangles.

A cute YA story. I enjoyed the differences in each girl's journey and how close they were as a family
