An excellent conclusion to a great series. I'm sad it's over, but what a great way to end the trilogy!

Quite a fast read, but a superb ending to the trilogy.

Steampunk isn't really my thing, but this was an entertaining, fairly well-written series. The end.

A worthwhile finish to an exhilarating trilogy, ending the tale at a perfect point (and yet much too early). Alek and Deryn are characters I'm going to miss in my daily reads... at least until rereading Leviathan, Behemoth and Goliath!

Well I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a YA trilogy this much. I talked my roommate's ear off about it. I'm so childishly happy with how everything turned out and how cute and adorable the romance was. I don't know if I can stop gushing about my love and enjoyment of this book and the entire barking trilogy long enough to articulate what I loved so much about it. If I could give it more than five stars I would! I'd give it six, no seven, no ten stars out of five!

What I loved:

- World-building: the mix of alternate history retelling of world War I with steampunk.
- Characters: Alek & Deryn were amazing characters - well-rounded with amazing growth and character arcs that you don't notice because of how smoothly and naturally it happens.
- Audiobook: As usual my entertainment, enjoyment, and immersion is heightened by the amazing vocal work of the narrator and I must tip my hat to you sir, you voiced every character so uniquely so I always knew who was talking. You preformed so many accents as the characters globe-trotted. And just *slow clap*.
- Artwork: Just gorgeous. I often wanted to stop and just stare at them. I've flipped through several times to show my roommate. Why aren't there more illustrated books? It just elevates the reading experience!

Things I didn't like:
- THE LENGTH, I COULD READ ANOTHER TRILOGY WITH THESE CHARACTERS
SpoilerBEING SPIES TOGETHER.

- that I read this a decade after it was published so I have no one to gush about this series to except for a review online that maybe 3 people will read!?

Final Thoughts:

Making my way through this final instalment probably took me double the amount of time that it took me to read the other two books combined cuz I kept going back to reread my favourite scenes several times.
SpoilerThat first kiss scene was probably one of my favourite first kisses that I've ever seen "It works on sleeping princes too." SWOON
and now I'm so tired as it is waaaaay past my bedtime and I have to get up in a few very, very short hours. But this ride and that ending was for sure with it!

A bajillion stars out of five!!!

I will never be able to express how much this series has meant to me, and to find it just as good as I remember so many years ago is wonderful. The ending is everything I hoped for and remembered, and everyone should read this series.

This book seemed a little slower than the first two, more politics and less adventure. I still enjoyed it but would have preferred for more to be going on. The end made it all worth it though!

Goliath was the third and final installment of the Leviathan series. It was an okay kind of book but I honestly didn't care about the whole slow romance between Deryn and Alek. I am, however, super happy he finally opened his god damn eyes and saw that Deryn was a girl. Holy shit, that took forever.

The details on how the machines work was still entertaining as hell. Even though I still hate scientific shit.. I basically just nodded and agreed with everything. Like a robot that hates science. The clankers and beasties were every growing in this book. Meeting new creatures or machinery was, again, entertaining.. yet, I was bored a lot while listening to this book.

Alek and Deryn were kind of meh in this book. Previously I loved Deryn, but in this book she just annoyed me. Her constant whining about loving Alek.. and how the world would crash and burn once he and everyone knows about her secret identity. UGH! I was just annoyed. Spoiler alert: the world didn't crash and burn.

Then there was Alek who was dramatic as fuck after finding out about her being a girl. He was annoying me too. I seriously just wanted to slap these two silly because of how they were acting. I also didn't like the little blackmailing people were doing to Deryn. Yeah, they knew her secret and shit.. but I honestly didn't see the big deal. Has no one seen Mulan?? She got a happy ending - so I assumed Deryn would too.

Overall, the book was a little bit entertaining and there was some sort of happy ending for these two. The romance was a slow and unnecessary burn because I didn't care about it. I'm glad that I took a dive into the Leviathan pool and a chance on Scott Westerfeld. I will definitely try another book of his.
