It's weird to say that I enjoyed a book about racism, but Ruffin and Lamar are so good at making fun of these jerks. You'll probably experience a lot of emotions when reading this -- shock, anger, sadness, but also a sort of disbelieving amusement at the sort of nonsense that some people actually say out loud with their real life mouths. If you enjoyed their first book, you'll probably enjoy this one. If you haven't read the first book, this one makes several references to it, but you can really read them in whatever order.

I have decided not to rate autobiographies and memoirs.
I listened to the previous book and it had very upsetting stories. This volume has a larger number because it contains others’ stories both past and present. There are stories with children.

It's worth listening through to the very end of the credits to hear Amber's maniacal laugh.

I was lucky enough to listen to this audiobook through my local library. Similar to their last book the sisters discuss and describe the awful, racist, and plain buck-wild things white people have said or done to them and their relatives. The only reason that this book is entertaining and not tragic in its entirety is because of Lamar and Ruffin's ability to crack jokes about the absolute fools they have encountered.

This is a beautifully written book that masters the art of laughing through horrific darkness/weirdness/insanity. I also really enjoy Ruffin's tangents throughout the book that sometimes feel like they make no sense to the current essay, but also do. The sibling banter is also fantastic. I have not had time to look at the accompanying PDF, but Lamar and Ruffin's descriptions of the contents kind of made it so that it needs to be higher on my priority list.

This is the second book these two have written together and once again it's hard to call this book good or bad. It does describe horrible, terrible racist things that have happened to these sisters, their family and some of their friends. But they also describe these things through humor so it makes the bad go down just a little bit easier. If you have the chance to listen to the audio, I'd recommend it because you hear the two siblings tease each other but also get to see how much they love each other.
