Lucy Valentine has lost the family ability to match people based on their auras, and can now only find lost objects. After some negative publicity, Lucy finds herself in charge of the family matchmaking business for a few weeks. Not realizing what she's getting herself into, she offers to try to find a new client's lost love, then asks the PI in the upstairs office to help her out. Sparks fly as soon as she walks in the door.

Really, this was a 3.5 star book for me. I'll get my complaints out of the way first. Some of the situations Lucy finds herself in felt very contrived. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll leave it at that. I also saw a lot of the small surprises coming, and I definitely knew what the big surprise/solution at the end was going to be.

Overall though, I had a lot of fun with this. It's been a while since I've read a chick lit kind of mystery, and I realized that I've missed it.

Lucy was a lot of fun, as was her family, but I have to say that I'm glad Dovie isn't my grandmother. I would die of embarrassment! Sean was hot in all the right ways, but in a personal preference, I wish he wasn't a retired firefighter. I love a man in a uniform, but that doesn't extend to firefighters. Lots of stories there. The chemistry between Lucy and Sean was maybe a little too instant, but that was part of the fun.

How many times have I used the word fun in this review? Too many! But that's the best way to describe this book, and I recommend it for a nice little break between heavier reads. I'll be looking for the next book in the series!

Lucy Valentine’s parents are going on a vacation, leaving Lucy to manage Valentine, Inc. A match making company. Lucy is the last person you would imagine running a matchmaking business. Lucy doesn’t believe in happy endings. Her family has seen their share of divorces. This is because the Valentines never had a chance when you are dealt with Cupid’s curse. Besides…what good is playing matchmaker when all your powers have been zapped away.

When Lucy finds herself in the middle of a murder case, she calls on the help of her sexy neighbor Sean Donahue. Sean works as a private eye. Can Lucy and Sean solve the murder and maybe love along the way in Truly, Madly?

Truly, Madly is Heather Webber’s debut novel. I thought this book was a cute, fun, light-hearted romance comedy. Though, I was expecting it to be a little funnier then it turned out to be. This book moved slowly at first. I had a hard time getting into it. Once I did start really finding my groove with this book, I enjoyed it. Lucy is sweet as well as charming. She could use more experience with the matchmaking process but hey at least there will be more Lucy Valentine novels where we will see this happen.

A friend sent me this book to read thinking I'd enjoy it. She was right. Just the right combination of fun, mystery and romance for the mood I've been in lately. Now I can't wait for the next Lucy Valentine book to come out.

Let me preface this review by saying this: "I've never done this before." I'm not a book reviewer, but I'm a book lover. At one point, I was reading a book a night, happily. I'm a speed reader and I enjoy a good book beyond most other things in life.

I am a sucker for an enjoyable plot that not only keeps me wondering, but keeps me intrigued and entertained in the process. If the writer has a sense of humor that allows me to connect with the characters in a way that makes them real and funny as well, that is a huge bonus. If there is a little romance, all the better. What? I'm a girl. Be quiet. You know you like it, too.

Onto the review.

"Truly, Madly" by Heather Webber has a fantastic heroine with a slightly unconventional gift. Lucy Valentine is in a family of legacy matchmakers and has always felt the pressure to live up to the family name. There's just one problem: she doesn't have the "gift." She does, however, have the gift of finding lost objects, which leads her into mysterious and complicated dilemmas. Lucy faces these with humor and a smoking hot detective she meets when she is forced to take over the family business while her father recuperates from a minor indiscretion.

The writing is clever and kept me laughing throughout the book. It reminded me a lot of the Heather Wells mystery books by Meg Cabot. There was no overt sexual tone, but enough sizzle to keep me interested. Usually, with a book like this, I can see the ending coming a mile away. That I didn't realize what was happening until it was almost there was a big deal.

I'm looking forward to the sequel. This is a perfect book for a weekend or airport read and one that will have you looking for more from this aut
