“Sometimes I get lonesome for a storm. A full-blown storm where everything changes. The sky goes through four days in an hour, the trees wail, little animals skitter in the mud and everything gets dark and goes completely wild. But its really God — playing music in his favorite cathedral in heaven — shattering stained glass — playing a gigantic organ — thundering on the keys — perfect harmony — perfect joy.”

I know that we are the same.

DID NOT FINISH: 32%

Just not for me. I’m learning that I don’t have to finish something just because the author is renowned or other people love it.

Joan Didion was one of our best writers. She was masterful at capturing the true essence of the moment, of the period in time. Journalism has a high bar to attain.

Will come back to add a star review once I have read the entire book. Read a couple of stories for American Postmodernism.
