INTRUDER is a Navy person's book. I'm not Navy, but I am an Air Force vet, so I guessed at what some of the acronyms meant and proceeded reading all ahead full. This book may not be a top of my list read, but Dan Foley certainly is a top of my list author. Believe me, there is nothing wrong with learning something new, and I learned quite a bit about serving on a nuclear sub. I am tech savvy enough to have grasped much of what the submariners were doing, and the very human reaction of the characters to being in a totally enclosed space, squeezed by the tremendous force of water was a little gut wrenching at times.

A sub on patrol, deep beneath the surface of the waves, avoiding detection... You would think that such a vessel would be impenetrable to any intruder, and you would be wrong, even dead wrong. Dan Foley takes you aboard a nuclear sub where you will find that patrol is anything but glamorous and exciting, and tells how sailors cope with boredom, varied personalities and their own particular fears and quirks.

A word about the acronyms... there is a lexicon at the end of the book to which you can refer. However, you can more or less glance over them and just go on with a fascinating story of life under the sea that is only heightened by the nasty paranormal INTRUDER invading the boat.

Some people who read this may be put off by the apparent technicality of the jargon might give this book less than a five star rating. I think it deserves five stars for accomplishing what it set out to present. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good horror story... both paranormal and psychological.
