4⭐️ i enjoyed this way more than i thought i would the found family in this book was everything!! and the character growth from all the different characters warmed my heart! i adored these characters and this whole plot super cuteee

There are a couple things about the writing style that annoy me, like how we switched characters when we were still mid-storyline on the other character and we're being explicitly told "wow looks at these lonely people" when loneliness is supposed to be more of a silent companion in life than something noticeable. Since it's a library pick, I'm just going to DNF and return it. Not for me, but fine for others.
I love an unlikely friendship story featuring a curmudgeonly old man and the young people who turn his life around.
