This book is the type of book I will never forget. The way the characters were human. Simple human beings with their faults and mistakes. Arthur, Maisey, Mateo, Greg, and Sloane all start the book lost in life, trying to get through the challenges thrown their way alone, and they come together to help each other in the end, to be lost together.
Even Brett, the fiancé, is shown in a way you understand him. He loves Sloane - we see that throughout the entire book - but they are not right for each other. This does not make him a villain. Just a man.
This book represents humanity at this core. Lonely people finding shelter in others. The feeling of knowing that you are not alone in this world. It is not a funny book, without a drop of romance, but I recommend it to anyone who feels a bit alone.

I cried at three separate points. I laughed out loud. I fell in love with every character and became so invested in each of their journeys. Beautiful and such an amazing story of friendship and self-discovery.

Books about people who love books are one of my favorite things, and "The Lonely Hearts Book Club" is no exception. It's a lovely heartwarming story about books bringing people together.

Arthur is a lonely, cranky lover of books and knowledge who loves to argue with librarians. Sloan is a librarian who is slightly lost in life, but she loves battling with Arthur over books. One day Arthur doesn't show up at the library, and Sloan goes looking for him only to find him sick and alone. Together they start a book club with others who are lonely and lost. Through the love of books, connection, and unlikely friendships the characters learn some important lessons about life and living.

DNFing at 80% is a new one for me but I just do not care about any of these characters or what is happening and I cannot do it anymore. Not a bad book just not very interesting or engaging

I really wished GoodReads had more of a nuanced rating system because this book is more of a 3.5/5 but not a 4 and not as mixed as a 3/5.

I thought this was overall a good book on a whim. It switches characters every few chapters but continues the storyline as it progresses. It’s reflective in nature that we revisit some events from the past while still progressing the current storyline. There were a few areas it lagged a little, but overall I still enjoyed it.
