Liked it. A love affair with reading and a group of unlikely bedfellows. I would love to read more about this charming bunch but I think it stands alone quite well.

I’m so tempted to go read “The art of racing the rain” now!

Super cute! Spoke to my librarian heart. What a way to start a book club and keep it going. I love how they each came with their own baggage, but found commonality through reading books and their individual contributions to the book club. Loneliness truly brought them all together, but ultimately made them a family as well. While I have a hard time with the highlighting in books, I value what they were telling each other through this simple gesture.

This was a solid 4 stars. I wanted to love it, but it could have been written a little smother. The story was absolutely wonderful. She has written enough to have had editors to encourage tighter writing.
that said, I encourage you to read it!

Such a sweet book! I love all of the POV’s in this book and how each character is so different, but the friendships are so genuine and deep. Even when Arthur was rude to others, you still felt bad for him and had a soft spot for him. I think I would’ve liked this book more if there was more about Sloane’s character and Arthur’s as well (especially his past). Overall, such a sweet story about friendship!

The story is told from the various different perspectives of the members of the Book Club .. although easy enough to follow I though the stories were laboured and unnecessarily overdone at times. Much is repeated and repeated and repeated while there is lots that I figured was very fanciful (could an old man be that unpleasant and still be liked??) ... but I did see it through to its inevitable conclusion.
