A great and easy read. Story flowed well and there was a good little bit of drama from the plot. I usually get annoyed when the mains finally get together but then something drags them apart, but this one was reasonable and wasn't drawn out too long which was a relief.

This was cute! There's a few too many POV switches per chapter--separated in the ARCs by easily-missed really narrow spaces with tiny asterisks in them (hopefully the finished book makes them more obvious?), and often with a slight overlap where we see the same part of a scene twice--but overall I did like the story.

I mean, and English professor, her cute little dog, and a hunky firefighter will never be something I say no to.

It would be nice to see more romance books normalizing
Spoilerthe choice not to have children. Obviously plenty of people make that choice IRL, but we don't see a ton of it in romance books.

Hopefully Thea's book is next?

So much to think about with this one. I'll definitely be reading it again.

We all know how the fake dating troupe ends, but what makes the difference is who the fake daters are. The concept of a literature professor and a firefighter who enjoys literature sounds like a good pairing but the execution is what stopped this story from standing out to me.

I was expecting Sean the firefighter to offer a bit more of his Jane Austen bonafides, and less protecting his “woman” (3 strikes Sean!!)

Feelings get “real” really fast but the two have to decide if they want the same things out of the future in order to make a relationship work. The age difference was also a good part of the storyline, also considering 36 and 41 is not too far off or how they acted.

Low spice, but a very quick read even with flipping POVs.

Unfortunately, I could not finish this one. The premise had so much promise, but I found myself not caring about the characters and a little bored (which I never want to be when reading a romance). I also thought it handled pretty heavy subject matter with a frivolity I couldn't get behind.

Was Sean hot? Ya, that’s really the only good thing going for this book. The last 20% lagged so hard, the ex story line could have faded to nothing but kept going to a lame conclusion and idk I have mixed emotions.
