A hen do gone wrong is the plot of Lucy Clark’s newest thriller, one of the girls. When ex-party girl and backup dancer Lexi finally decides to settle down with Ed, her high school best friend, Bella, insists on throwing her a hen do. Luckily for the ladies, Bella’s girlfriend Fen has a family place on a Greek Island. The girls go for a long weekend, despite the bad memories that haunt Fen there. The bride, two high school best friends, the groom’s sister, the current best friend, and the girlfriend. Six women, all together on an island, and someone ends up dead. Follow along on this multiple POV story to find out who the murderer is, what secrets everyone is keeping, and why it can be so hard trying to be one of the girls. I really enjoyed this story! It was sort of similar to The Guest List in my opinion, so if you liked that one you will probably enjoy this one too. The ending was surprisingly neat and tidy, which I sort of have mixed feelings about, but I won’t say anything to keep this spoiler-free. I haven’t actually read anything else by Lucy Clark so I am excited to take a look at her backlist now. Thanks so much to Putnam and Netgalley for the early copy in exchange for my review!

I'm kind of over paranoid domestic thrillers in which everyone around the protagonist is worse and more sinister than they seem. But I still love listening to a propulsive mystery/thriller. Enter this delight. I couldn't stop listening because I needed to know what happened, and also, contrary to much of the genre, everyone was actually better than they first appeared. And now my house is clean!

This story was full of peeling back the onion moments that kept me reading about the characters & plot.  You slowly get peeks at the full picture that eventually shows at the end.  It was a fast read.  And I honestly think it could adapt well into a film if done right.

If it wasn't for the first half of the book that was a bit less exciting than what I've been anticipating from a thrilling murder mystery, this book would have gotten five stars, but still I enjoyed it so much. It definitely did a great job at capturing my attention when things began to escalate and it took me every ounce of effort to not skip till the end and see what the hell is going to happen because I just couldn't wait anymore. There has been a great character development and how everything came together at the end was amazing. The last line though? I was like yeah, were not gonna go down that road again

Six girls at a hen weekend, all with secrets and strange connections. Someone will end up dead but who? It’s been a while since I sat and read a book in a single day - I was totally gripped by this one.
