**Summary:**

This book follows the animals on a farm. One day, they decide that they are going to run their owner off the farm and run the farm themselves.
At first, it all starts out fine. Everyone got along fine. But overtime, a pig by the name of Napoleon starts rising to the top. And putting himself on top along with the pigs and the dogs. But no one will outrank Napoleon. So whenever someone questions the ethics of Napoleon it is met with something of “Napoleon is doing this for you.” And “how dare you question our great leader”. Almost like Napoleon wants to brain wash the animals into thinking that he is a good leader when in reality he is not as great as he is making himself out to be.

**Thoughts:**

I thought that this book was just okay. There was nothing really special about it. And I can totally see what it was trying to do. And i think that it can be relevant today depending on how you read it.
I am not the biggest fan of classics but I do see myself rereading this book. Especially if I am doing a 24 hour readathon.

Oh dear Gods, this was even worse than I thought lol its really funny how many people regard this book as a true parallel to the October Revolution and the URSS experience, when it's all based on lies and exaggerations from mainly the USA - and hey, it worked, because almost everyone buys it without questioning, and if someone does question it, they are labeled as "stalinists" (as such thing exists lol Stalin only followed Marxism AND he did not make the decisions alone, there were councils, called soviets) and discarded. Anyways, the book itself was not even that good, it just worked because everyone linked it to the barely-underlying-message. Orwell himself worked for the British Imperial Police, he's no saint (but that no one dares acknowledge).
Anyways, if you want to read it just because it's considered a classic, do it knowing it's full of anticommunism sentiment and it's not genuine. I would just tell you not to waste your time, but you do you - I myself only listened to it to be able to criticize it and refute it. Everyone has their reasons. You could consider it a "hate reading" haha

This is probably my favourite book of all time. I have only read it twice so far and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Small Spoiler Below
As a part of my grade 12 politics class, we watched a series of lectures called ‘The American Paradox’ by Heather Cox Richardson and it’s available free on youtube, and essentially it was american equality is based on inequality and the fear the becoming equal will make everything unequal. I though about this when I reached the ‘All animals are equal but some are more equal than other’ line and holy shit. (That was the series thesis and I read animal farm after that)

I loved the writing style and after I started reading I just kept reading. It also has a great audiobook version on spotify. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I read this book for the Classics Reading Challenge.

I liked the unbothered cat. She was indecisive and didn't care much for others. What an icon. Otherwise, the character development was well-done, and I had a lot of fun seeing how the characters gradually transform.

An allegory for a totalitarian regime. An enjoyable and thought-provoking fable. This story will certainly not make you tedious.

There are no lines I'd like to share.

The end was fabulous! I like the note it ended on.

A timeless and provocative story. I'm glad I read it.

This is one of the best books on authoritarianism ever written and one of my favorite novels for a reason
