This is a story about love and heartbreak.

The main protagonist is a dreamer, about love and life, what we would call nowadays a hopeless romantic. He regards life as something exciting but only if his emotions go hand in hand.
Then there is the love interest, a young woman who clearly states him not to fall in love with her because her heart is destined for another. But he does anyway.

As a reader you cannot unsee what is unveiling through your eyes and you wish you could stop it but you cannot. If you have ever felt heartbreak in any way, you will feel recognized and seen. But what makes it even greater is that the writing style is magnificent. I still think about it sometimes, almost a month after reading it.

Another thing that surprised me is how true the narrator is to his feelings and how he cannot hate the girl that he has fallen in love with, he can just watch and see how she marries another man, who she truly loves. What is so greatly portrayed is that it transcends the reader and you cannot simply hate the girl for loving another man, but just feel deep sorrow for the narrator. In the end you become, not as a whole but a bit, the narrator itself and his feelings are yours.

The emotion and devastation conveyed regarding love is something I have not seen in some time.
