Opening this book is like diving into a lake made of magic. The prompts are outstanding, and the responses even BETTER than you’d expect (despite a line-up of some of the best writers in children’s literature). This should be on the shelves of every teacher’s classroom and in the heart of every creator.

This book is perfect for all ages. Simple format - prompt then response - but filled with SO MUCH GREATNESS. I had a blast reading through and seeing how these insanely creative minds took a prompt and ran with it. I loved when my mind went a certain way after reading the prompt and then when I'd read the response I was totally mind blown. We (me and my kids) were reading some of them this morning before school and laughing. Great book to gift both kids and teachers. Really a lot of fun. I enjoyed the way it was organized, too - at the back there was a brief bio of each author and then there is an index where you can search by author as well. Makes it a versatile resource.

What a great book! Congrats to Colby and his editing team for coming up with this. The concept may not be that new, but by having so many people involved, and so many names that middle school kids are familiar with, it is the breadth and variety of prompts and responses that are fantastic. There are a lot more hits than misses here. In addition, while it is great reading contributions from names we know and love, there's then another whole level where we get to chase down the authors we aren't familiar with! Can't wait to share this with my colleagues tomorrow, then the students over the course of the year!
Now I am just waiting for my copy of Game Changer to arrive...

This book is a game changer. Teacher, literacy advocate, and book lover Colby Sharp brought together creatives to create and respond to prompts. And it is magical.

I laughed, cried, shouted, and shivered my way though this collaborative masterpiece. I feel inspired to create new pieces myself and with my students, and I am honored to have had access to this book prior to its publication through Colby’s generosity with our #bookexpedition crew.

The only downside? That I have to wait until March 2018 to get it into the hands of my students. But the end of the school year will be that much better!!

In this novel Children's authors and illustrators come up with a prompt and then another author/illustrator responds to that prompt.  At the end of the book there are more prompts for the reader to try out.

Many of the authors and illustrators I was familiar with and it was fun to read what they came up with and what their responses were.  I actually liked the ones that responded with drawings or very short responses instead of short stories.  At the end there were some great prompts that would be fun to do either alone or with kids.

A great book for use with a writing group.
44 YA authors were asked to come up with and respond to different prompts. They are in all sorts of various formats and are all unique and fantastic!

Some fun prompts and stories. None of the stories stood out to me as particularly memorable (save a clever one by Lemony Snickett), but hopefully it will encourage kids to play around with words and dream up their own creative pieces.

A few of the prompts at the end look promising for my own writing.
