This book was everything! It was short, sweet, and had the perfect balance of plot and romance. I loved it so much and everyone needs to pick up, especially if they are looking for a faced paced book. Fake dating, military romance with a protective mmc, whats not to love?

I listened to the audio while following along in ebook ...
I truly loved this story ...
As a military spouse who met her husband before he got deployed ... this hit close to home.
I related so much to Langley in the sense that you focus on everyone else except yourself. When I married, I did it for me. I did it for love.
I loved Iker! He was such a gentleman ... a hot gentleman! He was what Langley needed, and Langley was what Iker needed. They deserve all the happiness, and I hope book 2 brings that for both.
People do not understand your decisions, and it honestly does not matter as long as it makes you happy.
Almost 16 years together, 14 years married, 3 PCS', countless deployments and TDYs, raising 5 daughters in our current location CO.
*another reason why I loved this book even more!
Thank you to Rebecca for sharing this treasure with the world. It is obvious that she made this for those who would understand it.

This duology has been on my radar for awhile now. Mainly because of Jay Crownover - I'll admit, I didn't know Rebecca Yarros until Fourth Wing came out. So glad I finally picked these up at Apollycon.
One of my favorite tropes is fake dating and that's pretty much what this entire book was about. Langley needed a date to her stepsisters wedding - but not just any date, no, she wanted someone who would shake things up in her uptight rich world. Enter Iker, whom she meets at a dive bar and is covered in tats. Perfect. The two clash beautifully over how different their worlds are, but you can see those sparks immediately. While this book has a sped up time frame - they fall for each other in a week - I found that I really enjoyed the ride.
But omg her stepmom and stepsister were HORRIBLE. I mean, her stepsister was marrying Langley's ex so that says a lot right there. I loved watching Langley really start to stand up for herself. She let everyone walk all over her for so long that when she finally started talking, she wasn't stopping. It was nice to see how Iker helped her with all of that - they complimented each other so well.
But that ending, I knew it was coming but it didn't make it hurt less. At least I had the second one ready to go!
