This was written jointly with Rebecca Yarros. I found the duet on Libby when I was looking for an audiobook. It is a fast & fun light read, just what I was looking for.
Langley is from a very wealthy family looking to hire someone for a fake date to her step sister's wedding. Her step sister is marrying Langley's ex boyfriend who was her first love.
Langley runs into Iker who is from the other side of the tracks. He doesn't come from wealth and decides to take Langley up on her offer. Iker is tattooed and nothing like her circle of wealthy family & associates. He is exactly what she's looking for to shake things up at the wedding. Not only is Iker the perfect fake date, but he's also in the military.
I really enjoyed this story. The only thing that I would've like to have seen more of is Iker doing exactly what he was supposed to do at the wedding. So the execution on that part of the story was lacking.
This ends on a "cliffhanger" and you will want to jump right into the next book to see how things play out between these two.

First off, when I saw 2 of my favorite writers wrote a duet, I screamed. Langley is being su jextrd to her wicked step sister wedding to none other than her ex boyfriend he wasn't an ex when they got together. She hurt and has been hurt by her evil step mom and her step sister since they came into her life after her mother passed
She keeps the peace for her father, so she goes to a bar to hire a man who will drive them crazy. Icker saves her at the bar and decides for 10,000 for the week to accompany her as her boyfriend. Icker is in the army and is in need of money to send his little brother to his dream college. What they don't expect is the immediate attraction and understanding where it's the best week of their lives. I am I. Love with icker, he takes care of her so much and stands up for her constantly, even to her dad. Langley falls for him and starts to find herself. Icker has a secret, though. Loved the ending and can't wait to start book 2. Also, I listened to this, and jf harding is amazing!

Loved this but super annoyed that it’s split into two books. Anxiously waiting to get my hands on the next book.

My biggest problem with this book was the characters. All of the characters fell so flat and one dimensional, especially the antagonists in this book are almost comically evil. Also, being married to someone in the military, a lot of the military stuff came off as disingenuous and way overdramatized. I do love a fake dating book, but the characters fell so fast and there wasn't a lot of that tension I'm used to with the trope. I also read the second book just to get the full story, but not one of my favorites from Rebecca Yarros.
