This book left me with many questions and no answers. Is it deeply superficial or superficially deep? Or is it none of them? I don’t know. I recommend the read, despite only 3 stars.

— as a survivor of the french educational system, i’ve grown around my teachers constantly talking about camus, especially the stranger, which i only read excerpts of (and for school). it’s a book that’s scary, where you’re afraid you won’t love it as much as the entire world does.
but i loved it! there’s a reason why it’s universally acclaimed. the transition of mundanity and journal like writing to constant and increasing chaos and panic with the author writing with different tonalities is wonderful.

i dont really have a lot to say other than that (my brain’s still going bzzz bzzz and trying to comprehend what it just read) but here’s a quote i’m gonna be thinking about for months:
‘tout refus de communiquer est une tentative de communication; tout geste d’indifférence ou hostilité est appel déguisé.´

there isn't much to be said except I don't agree with this outcome on existentialism. The question "nothing matters" being answered with "therefore act as you will" is bs to me. They never tell me why, just that it doesn't, and therefore assume the worst, act selfishly. Rick n morty ass thinking and I hate it. It's depressing, and it's without reason, and I just do not enjoy that perspective. I disagree with it fundamentally.
