2nd in the Fever series, this book picks up where the last left off, with Mac discovering a bit more about the parties involved, all tugging her different directions trying to convince her that their way is the right way. Mac decides to not join these groups, not trusting them completely and to stick with her own moral code while trying to find the evil book and to save the world.

Pretty darn awesome. Blew my expectations out of the water. Admittedly, I didn't really have high expectations. I was wary about this series, but I kept reading because so many people have said that the books just keep getting better and better. So far people have proven trustworthy. World building is intricate yet not so complicated that I can't theorize on the future plot line. Mac is becoming a much more reliable character and narrator. I can understand her a lot better now than before, and I love how Moning puts the reader right in her shoes and just as clueless and shocked as Mac is by every revelation. And what a big cliffhanger Moning leaves us with again!

Hm... I'm still not sure what to think about Barrons. Who is he? Or more importantly, what is he? But one thing is for sure, the scene in the Burren was utterly fantastic.

For some reason I don't remember reading this one the first time through. Loved it though!

Not my favorite of the series. There’s not a lot going on plot/action-wise until the end, so it feels a little too slow
Still, it does introduce a few important people, and sets up things for future books, so don’t skip it
