For Everly is a sweet New Adult Contemporary Romance by Raine Thomas and is the story of Everly Wallace and Cole Parker. This is the first book I have read by Raine Thomas, and I found it to be an enjoyable quick read. For me, this story was nice and sweet. There were darker elements to it, but they were not the focus of the story and I was glad that it wasn't completely filled with angst and drama.

Cole Parker is a Major League pitcher and has been struggling with an injury. Instead of letting anyone know what is going on, he has tried to bury the pain with pills and alcohol. After an accident that leaves him in the hospital he finally admits to his doctor brother what is really going on. His contract is up for renewal and he needs to keep his injury from being found out by the public. His brother Wyatt comes up with the solution of having his best student Everly help him rehab his shoulder injury without letting anyone be the wiser. Cole and Everly decide to pretend that she will pose as his girlfriend for their cover story in case anyone starts asking questions. Cole and Everly begin spending more time together for rehab and feelings between them begin to grow. But someone isn't happy about Cole and Everly being together, and bad things start happening to Everly. As they try to figure out who is attacking Everly and why, Cole and Everly begin to realize that the feelings and relationship between them is no longer a cover, and has become very real.

I really liked Cole. Despite his drunken beginning in the story, he quickly started to become a hero to root for with a little help from Everly. He was sweet and caring and I really loved that he never pushed Everly. He allowed Everly to open up to him on her terms and was content to let her set the pace of the relationship even if he would have had them progress faster. Everly was a great heroine. She was very strong, determined and an absolute survivor. Most people that would have suffered from all the things that Everly had in her past would have given up or become someone completely different, but Everly used her tragic past to create a future for herself that she was passionate about. I also really liked seeing a female that was as into sports as I am! Those are hard to find in books, and although sports were not the main focus of this book they were definitely a large part. Everly and Cole were a really great couple that were easy to believe in. Their relationship had time to develop and grow, and wasn't the insta-love that has become so common anymore and I found that very refreshing. It was nice to see them take things slow and really start to fall for each other.

Overall I enjoyed this quick and sweet read. I thought the story was very nice. Although there are some physical elements to this story, there wasn't much steam. If you are looking for a hot and sexy read, this isn't the book for you. I usually prefer a bit of a sexier story, but this one was still a book that I enjoyed. For me, although this book is filled with likable characters and a realistic relationship, I just felt there was something missing and that made the difference between good and great. I was waiting for that moment that really wowed me, and it just didn't happen. If you enjoy your romance stories angst free with a happily ever after, I think that you will really like this book.

This book was extremely intriguing and such a good read. I love Everly and really enjoyed for once having a well educated female lead. Cole was also another awesome character. I really enjoyed how he was not a typical male character and really went for what he wanted in just life in general & is very determined. I also enjoyed the struggles that they both endured and Everly's past was so heartbreaking. I think this book was an amazing read and highly recommend it! I loved it. Thank you for allowing me this awesome read.

I was impressed with this book because there are so many books that involve a male athlete and a woman who is either brought in to clean up his image or down on their luck type of book that it kind of gets old reading that same plot over and over again. But what I liked about Everly’s character was that she was brilliant as a physical therapist and was so super sweet as a person. The lady that chewed her out at her waitressing job would have got the beat down from me but Everly handled it with grace. It made me see the extremely sweet character/personality of Everly.

Let’s not forget about sexy, smexy Cole! He was not cocky like I expected him to be. He was a gentleman all the way around and it made me happy that he took an interest in Everly because after her past, she needed a good guy.

There were so many sweet, cute, and funny parts that I was highly entertained throughout all of it. And what I didn’t see coming was the suspense that Thomas threw into the plot. I thought it was just going to be a romantic book but it had some mystery moments to it.

When pro baseball player Cole Parker starts self-medicating with booze to treat his secret injury, he never expected therapy would come with in the form of redhead-bombshell, Everly Wallace. But Everly is unlike most girls that Cole interacts with. For starters, she doesn't throw herself at him. Despite being a huge fan of Cole's, Everly is a very guarded person. When she is not working her butt off to pay for her grandfather's medical bills, she has her nose in the books. Everly is smart, hardworking, and carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. As Cole's therapy progresses, and Everly starts to drop her guard, their simple business arrangement turns into something more.

But there are secrets from Everly's past that not only threaten Cole's career, and their relationship, but possibly her life.

I have to say that I was really impressed by this book. One reason was the progression of Cole and Everly's relationship. Sure, there was attraction but it wasn't the main component.

I also enjoyed the fact that I wasn't forced to read description after description about how sexy and attractive the characters are. I feel like so many books feel the NEED to tell me just how beautiful the hero/heroine are. It's unnecessary and after a while is just plain annoying.

Not only was there plenty of romantic tension, but suspense that kept me rooted in my reading nook from start to finish.

If your looking for a book that has likeable characters, interesting plot twists, and plenty of action to keep you on your toes, then For Everly is the book for you!

Although this book was a little slow, I really enjoyed the story. Everly was an interesting heroine - she's smart and strong- she's been through a lot but survived. I also really liked Cole. I liked the romance between these two and the build-up to their relationship. I had a few small complaints - the drama towards the end was a little over the top and it did seem to be a little slow. Overall, I did enjoy this story and look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

This was a lot more interesting that a simple sports hero book. Everly was a great heroine. She was strong and not prone to hysteria which was nice. She had an incredibly hard life and it was great to witness her HEA. Solid writing and really enjoyable story.

This book was super amazing! I really loved the whole story line and the characters fit that story very well. Although the story line was amazing, it was a little typical in the fact that Everly Wallace was the typical perfect main female character that wasn't looking for love but found it anyways. Then Cole Parker was the typical male main character that was only looking for a good time but instead found "the one".

Yet, even with these stoic characters, the author was able to put them in a unique situation that made the book really good. I liked how Everly had a tragic past yet was able to do something productive with her life. Because she was broke and caring for her grandfather she took on extra jobs and worked even harder. Quite unlike other books where the female character resorts to drastic measures to pay their rent... This made Everly stand out and eventually made me like her as a character despite some of the cliches in the book.

Cole Parker is the typical famous, rich, and fictional baseball player. But instead of a revolving door with no steady relationships, he has some psycho girlfriends in his closet. Even with these marks against him (I mean besides being hot and rich ;) Cole grew on me. He evolves from kind of a jerk, to someone that would be a perfect match for Everly. I also quite liked how the author put some small relational speed bumps throughout the book instead of bunching them all together. It made the book a little more realistic and easier to sympathize with.

Now, you may be wondering, "if the book has so many negatives, then why should I read it?" You should definitely read this book because it's a really good story. These are just things that caught my attention throughout the novel. Actually the positives of the book greatly out weigh any negatives I have brought up so far. For Everly was a great read and well worth the money. The characters were easy to like and I was constantly cringing whenever they hit a speed bump throughout the book.

Overall, this book, while a little cliche, was a great read! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good new adult romance read.

Holly's 4 Star Review

To say that this is Raine Thomas' first NA novel, I was really impressed! The writing flowed well, the characters were likable and the plot had some great twists and turns that were unexpected and left you needing to know more.

Cole plays ball for a living and to make sure he gets the chance to sign his next contract, he needs to be fit and healthy. But he's been dealing with pain in his shoulder and must seek help without the press finding out. Enter Everly. She's nearing the end of her studies to become a physical therapist and needs money to help care for her grandad (pee paw) so seems like the perfect answer to Cole's problem.

Cole is definite book boyfriend material. He's sweet and caring and funny and for a refreshing change, he's not a douchebag! He's a genuinely good guy and I don't think you could not love him. Everly is much the same as Cole. She's sweet and caring but whereas he has a slightly cocky side, Everly is more shy and reserved but she still gave as good as she got which I loved. She had been through a lot in her past and I couldn't help but feel bad for her but she didn't let it effect her and she worked hard to provide herself and her pee paw with a good life.

As I said before, there were some great twists and turns to the story that had me hooked and unable to put my kindle down until the early hours of the morning and desperate to find out what would happen next and how it would effect Cole and Everly’s lives.

I do wish that some things had been resolved a bit more in the end and at one point I felt like quite an important part of the plot at that time had just been ignored and the characters should have tried to find out more about it instead of leaving it to be revealed later on.

Overall, For Everly is a great book that I would certainly recommend and I look forward to more NA novels by Raine Thomas.

Everly Wallace has done everything she can to move past her traumatic past, she is beginning to see the light at the beginning of the tunnel when she is introduced to major league pitcher Cole Parker. Cole has an injury to his shoulder but because it is a contract year, he doesn't want anyone to find out. Everly will soon get her degree in physical therapy and highly recommended by his brother, despite the awareness he feels when he is around her he hires her.

Everything he thought about Everly is thrown out the window, when he begins to see the relaxed version of Everly he is sunk. For the first time since high school, Cole feels out of his zone, but the same goes for Everly and Cole wants to ensure that everything he does with Everly is right.

I loved this one, it was warm, humorous, and romantic. Cole is a charmer, he acts like an idiot sometimes but he makes up for it in a remarkable way. I am eager to read more books from this author, I was completely swept off my feet with For Everly.
