Not my favourite, still cute and whimsical but I think without the original main characters I’ve lost interest.

Read through this with the kids- it was my favorite as a kid, and it still slaps. It boasts a lot of imaginative ideas: the owl parliament, the giant city, the Underworld, etc. Each chapter uncovers some new and exciting aspect of the world, which seems more thoroughly developed here than ever before. The action never lets up, almost every chapter ending with some sort of cliffhanger. My kids loved it and would typically beg me to keep reading whenever I finished a chapter.

It’s less allegorical and theology-laden than some of the others in the series, which is probably a good thing: Aslan’s presentation here is sort of magical/superstitious, what with the “signs” he gives to Jill, and his occasionally judgmental attitude (“I won’t always be scolding,” he says at the end). But the story is such a banger, it didn’t really bother me much.

Another fine entry in this classic series, this would be one of my top two favorite of the series along with Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This story is full of adventure and should keep you interested as you read through the chapters. It was nice to have some new characters introduced as that added to the interest. I won't be writing many details about the plot as that has been done so many times before by thousands of dedicated readers. Suffice it to say it was an enjoyable book to read to my granddaughter and I would recommend it to any reader 8 years and older
