I recently indulged in the audiobook of this captivating tale and found myself utterly enchanted by the narrative. The narrators delivered an exceptional performance, skillfully breathing life into this poignant second-chance romance filled with tension and emotional depth. “King of Greed” explores the profound connection between two individuals who, despite their deep love for one another, have drifted apart and lost their way. While the story revolves around a marriage in turmoil, which may not resonate with every reader, it surprisingly struck a chord with me. Although Ale and Dom’s relationship is heightened for dramatic effect, many elements of their journey will resonate with those who have experienced the complexities of long-term partnerships. As you immerse yourself in their world, you will encounter a whirlwind of angst and frustration, juxtaposed with the undeniable love that binds these two soulmates. This narrative has truly captured my heart and continues to linger in my thoughts long after the final chapter.
➸ Kennedy Kay:
Kennedy Kay is a character who captured my heart from the very beginning. Despite her remarkable strength, she has faced a life devoid of the support and love that every child deserves, leaving her with deep-seated trauma. This lack of affection has made her wary of love, leading her to believe that she is unworthy of it. A perfectionist by nature, she strives for excellence in a male-dominated field, a trait that, rather than being a flaw, serves as her armor in a challenging environment. I find a kindred spirit in her tendency to overthink and get lost in her own thoughts, a struggle that resonates deeply with me. Fortunately, Isaiah enters her life as a guiding light, encouraging her to embrace what brings her joy and to let go of her self-imposed limitations. Witnessing her journey of growth has been a profound experience, as she gradually dismantles her emotional barriers, allowing herself to both give and receive love in a way she never thought possible.
➸ Isaiah Rhodes:
Isaiah Rhodes has effortlessly carved a place in my heart. At first glance, he exudes an air of confidence, embodying the quintessential playboy who thrives in the spotlight of social gatherings. However, beneath this charismatic facade lies a tender soul, marked by sweetness and a profound sense of care. Isaiah grapples with personal demons, choosing to shoulder his burdens alone rather than impose them on others. His unwavering affection for Kenny, which has blossomed over three years, showcases his protective nature and deep-seated devotion. It’s endearing to witness how he has fallen for her—first and hardest—demonstrating a vulnerability that contrasts sharply with his outward bravado. The roots of his anxiety trace back to a tragic event from his youth, a wound he conceals from the world. Yet, Kenny stands as one of the rare individuals who glimpses this hidden side of him, offering support and reassurance that it is perfectly acceptable to embrace vulnerability and acknowledge one’s struggles. Observing Isaiah’s journey of self-discovery has been a delight; he learns to express his true emotions of grief and hurt, realizing that he need not maintain a façade of perpetual happiness around those he loves. And let’s not overlook his unique love language—his unwavering commitment to ensuring that she is well-fed. It’s a charming gesture that resonates deeply, and I would gladly welcome his nurturing care at any time.
Kennedy and Isaiah epitomize the concept of destiny, a belief that Isaiah holds dear as the cornerstone of their union. Initially, I anticipated a whirlwind romance characterized by instant attraction, given Isaiah’s fervent infatuation. However, their connection transcends mere infatuation; it is a beautifully layered relationship that flourishes through patience and a genuine desire to understand one another on a profound level. They navigate their individual challenges with grace, fostering an environment of mutual respect and open communication. This thoughtful approach has allowed them to cultivate a robust foundation of love and admiration, which resonates deeply. The chemistry between them is so intense that it reverberates through every interaction, igniting a sense of excitement within me. Their unwavering support for one another not only propels their personal growth but also creates a safe space for introspection when needed. Witnessing their love unfold felt incredibly authentic and raw, evoking a whirlwind of emotions—from the delightful butterflies stirred by their playful banter and palpable sexual tension to the heart-wrenching moments of vulnerability that left me in tears. It is undeniable that Isaiah and Kennedy have etched themselves into my heart, securing a cherished place as my favorite couple in this series, a testament to the beauty of their extraordinary bond.
LIKE HEAR ME OUT!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!? ISAIAH….PLEASE BE IN MY LIFE.
The aspect that resonated with me most profoundly was the theme of found family woven throughout the narrative. The warmth and camaraderie among the characters, particularly the teammates and those from previous installments, created an atmosphere brimming with affection. Observing the dynamics between Zee, Stevie, Ryan, Indy, Kai, Miller, Max, Rio, and Monty filled my heart with joy. Their interactions were not solely about their bond with Isaiah; they also embraced Ken with genuine love and kindness, allowing her to experience the true essence of belonging and affection. The connection between Kai and Isaiah was particularly striking; while I was aware of its existence, it was portrayed with such depth here that it left a lasting impression. Kai’s heartfelt speech encapsulated this beautifully, evoking a torrent of emotions that had me revisiting passages through tear-filled eyes. The palpable love and unwavering support they shared for one another was a testament to the strength of their relationships.

“I like when you smile, Ken.”
“Me too.”
“Just for clarification, I think you’re stunning all of the time, but happy looks real fucking good on you.”

➸ Kennedy Kay:
“I’ve never been so comfortable. Never been so drawn to someone the way I am to him. I’ve never wanted to touch someone the way I touch him. Never wanted someone to touch me the way he so naturally does. Never wanted to be around someone the way I feel pulled into his orbit.”

➸ Isaiah Rhodes:
“So, who is she?” On this day, where everything feels like a sign, I don’t hesitate when I say, “My future wife.”

“Excuse me?” I stand from my seat. “Watch your fucking words when you’re speaking to my wife.”

“If we do this, I’m basically using you.”
“Sounds terrible. Please, Kennedy, use me all you want.”
There’s no denying it. I’m an absolute fool when it comes to this girl.

Is that what it means to unequivocally care for another person? To want what’s best for them even if it’s going to hurt like a bitch to sit by and watch?
I want Kennedy to thrive in the position she trained for. I want her to get away from Dr. Fredrick. I want her to be comfortable in her own skin, to understand what it means to feel loved and cared for.
I just wish she could do all those things with me.
I wish I could experience the feelings that I felt when reading this book……“sighing out of sadness”

fun flirty sports romance and that’s all there is to it, but i don’t mean that in a negative way. it was cute, i like the dynamic, but not much else to say besides that.
