Stream of consciousness is over
Also, when will people let the quotation mark debate go? Quotation marks are a literary construction and not using them isnt pretentious, its just a stylistic choice because quotation marks are ugly and DO NOT suit stream of consciousness. If stream of consciousness is trying to reflect inner monologue, it would make no sense that someones inner monologue follows the rules of punctuation. The argument is ridiculous tbh and I am bored of people bringing it up. Literature has to keep moving and changing, rules set centuries ago dont need to be followed forever

This was an enjoyable tapestry of familial relationships and rich characters, with reflective petry sprinkled throughout. Anne Enright is a hell of an author.

I was interested in the complicated family dynamics, but the characters didnt really have any redeeming qualities and the prosey writing was difficult to get through
