Wow what a story. This book grabbed me by the throat from the start and I absolutely couldn't put it down as I had to find out what happened on the next page. The writing between these 2 author's was so smooth you just wanted them to keep writing. I did feel though that the ending was a tad bit rushed, but it definitely didn't keep me from loving this story, because I still didn't want it to end, so I guess I'm a lil bloodthirsty for retribution.

There are triggers all through this book, so be warned this isn't a rainbow and kittens story it's brutally raw and gritty, because this kind of thing does happen more often than we're aware of.

This story is about Orion Darby who was abducted at 13 who was raped and beaten by the vilest of men for 10 years before she was rescued along with 2 other women. Their all thrust back into the living along with a mistrust of everyone and are trying to cope and Orion has plans as she becomes the monster they created, because in order to catch a monster you have to become one.

This story will have you wanting to hold Orion and tell her that with time thing's will be alright and the other you'll want to join forces.

I have read almost all of Anne Malcolm’s books, however none by BT. When I heard they were collaborating to release a book, I knew I needed to read it. I was so curious to see how it would work out. I was not disappointed at all. This book is dark, not as dark as I usually read, however there are definitely triggers that may upset some individuals. This book is about the dark side of life, that people chose to ignore, however it needs to be written about and discussed. You will feel all your emotions while reading it. These are stories that NEED to be told. This is a book that will touch your heart and soul and put a mark on you so that you always remember it.

I hope this is not the last time these two come together to write more. I loved every word and was sad when it ended.

My lord this is a dark story. I knew it would be, I mean hello, read the blurb. This book is raw, gritty, in your face and unapologetic. This book is one that will stay with you for a long, long time. The story of sex trafficking is hardcore in the news right now, it's a hot button topic, and while this story is dark, it's real. It deals with the healing, or lack thereof that victims go through. This story is beautifully written, and the characters are visceral.
This is not a sweet romance, where the main character just gets over her feelings, and goes into therapy and everything is light and roses. If you are looking for that, pick something else. This ain't for you. There are triggers, and I would think after reading the blurb people would know that, but I felt it needed to be said.
The one thing...and yes there is one thing only I hated about this book, is that it's in the 3rd person. I HATE third person. Hate it, hate it. That's on me though. It's a reading preference, but I really feel like a 1st person pov would have gone over a little better as it really lets you into the mind set of the characters. Other than that one issue, this book, if you have no triggers and really want dark, this is the book for you.

My GRsiggy

A very unique story from Anne & BT. Beware- it is dark, with sooo many triggers. But the writing is great, the characters have depth, the story keeps interest right to the last page. Orion wins the strongest heroine award! Dexter would be proud.

IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU THINK YOU NOW ABOUT THIS BOOK, THEN UNTHINK IT;
TRIGGER WARNINGS : MENTION OF RAPE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, VIOLENCE, LITTLE GORE

THIS BOOK IS TOTALLY NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING, IT WAS GRITTY, RAW, DEPRAVED AND SINCERE IN ITS STORY TELLING.
AS WE START WE THINK THERE WILL BE REDEMPTION, JUSTICE SERVED AND ALL THE BIG REVELATIONS.
WELL, NO; IT DIDNT AND AS I SAID THE AUTHORS KEPT IT FAIRLY PRACTICAL AND I WAS QUITE OK WITH IT.
THE FLOW OF THE STORY DIDNT MAKE IT TOO DARK OR PLAIN. IT INTERSPERSED WITH THE DARK AND THE LIGHT (HEALING ) ASPECT.
THE STORY FOCUSES ON ri(ORION) BUT IT IS SAID FROM MULTIPLE POVs, WHICH REALLY HIT HOME IN SHOWCASING ALL THE CHARACTERS THAT WERE VICTIMS OF THE TRAGEDY.
BUT THEY HADN'T BEEN SAVED. AND FREEDOM WAS A THIN FACADE.

THE ENDING IS UNIQUE AND MIGHT LEAVE SOME CONFUSED BUT AFTER READING THE STORY IN ENTIRETY AND KEEPING UP WITH THE THEME OF REAL, PRACTICAL LIFE. I AM AGAIN OK WITH THE WAY AUTHORS ENDED (i dont know if there will be book 2 of them so)
ITS A 5 STAR READ FOR SURE.

This book!
This book is utter perfection for me. It combines my favourite genres to read and I was just in heaven.
Dark, twisted and stormy romantic suspense.
You have to read it or we’re no longer friends honestly.
It crosses some lines for people with triggers but it’s so raw and honestly and real that it pushes the limits to an extent where there’s no turning back and I loved it. No spoilers from me but that ending is what I’m looking for every single day and only a few authors can manage to deliver it for me.
Just give it a try!

HUSH is not a the typical book I pick up, but when I read the blurb; I just had to know more. This book is dark, and follows some pretty harsh themes, so be warned.

“You don’t just get out of what they went through unscathed. They were damaged for life. Broken.”

This is the story of girls who after over ten years in captivity have freed themselves and are having to face new realities in a modern world they don’t really understand. They have been used and abused, and are broken-spirited and tired. Their journey is not easy, but I really loved seeing them grow, mature and develop by the end. It’s a gritty tale of overcoming the dark side of this life.

It’s ended in a way that took my completely by surprise.

TW: Kidnapping/captivity. Description of rape, sexual abuse, crime, and drug use. Post traumatic stress.

Orion Darby was 14 years old when she first kissed 16 year old Maddox Novak and she thought this was the best night of her life. Yet on her bike ride home she is taken and thrown in the back of a van where she is kept captive for the next 10 years with other girls.

When the girls finally escape nothing prepares them for their new lives and the freedom that comes with it. Yet there is something else that Orion wants more than anything - revenge.

This was a good, dark book and I enjoyed it.

I understood why Orion was so different and I felt bad that she wanted nothing to do with Maddox or his sister, April, who had been her best friend. Neither Maddox or April had given up on finding her but Orion really kept them both at a distance.

I liked that Maddox had never given up and had actually become a police officer to try and find her. It was obvious he still had feelings for Orion but she almost resented him which I was sad about.

It was sad seeing how Orion and the two other girls rescued, Shelby and Jaclyn, each coped with their freedom and how much each of them had their own difficulties with everything. Shelby had her family but they still treated her as if she was a child and had not been through what she had.

I was not really shocked by what Orion ends up doing as there was so much need for revenge in her. I was surprised at the lengths she went to do what she was doing.

The end of the book actually made me sad as I had really wanted Orion to realize that Maddox was truly there for her and his actions really proved it!

Hush by BT Urruela and Anne Malcom is a dark and intense read.
Orion was taken and held captive for over 10 years since she was a young girl.
Hush tells the Orion's story with glimpses into other characters along the way.
Most of the story takes place after Orion's escape and tells how she deals with her re-introduction to society. She and the other girls all deal, heal and cope in different ways. Even though the story is dark and gruesome at times it is told well but can also be confronting.

This book was interesting. I enjoyed the heroine to an extent, and it was nice that her friends didn't give up on her. The only bad thing was the ending. I felt like nothing was resolved even though it wasn't a cliffhanger, it just ended.
