It is hard not to recognise the people in this book as old classmates, people who now drop their children off at school, shouting obscenities at the 'goths' do they know what it means? Queer and just Wierdo is so common at school the young teens see it as normal & laugh it off. But there are ignorant people who have no measure of right & wrong after a few drinks. They just need one other person to say go on and something from nothing transpires to change every bodies life.
This book is a smart powerful tale. School libraries should hold a few copies and parents should let their children (teens) read it.
Would you be the one to stand by while someone is attacked? Could you do something more than watch?
This book asks more questions of the reader. I shall be thinking on it for some time.
