Audiobook.
I couldn’t focus at all and it felt like I didn’t listen to it at all.
I finished it few hrs ago but I already forgot how it went.
Maybe I could’ve liked it more if I read it physically or not around busy time

this was a very fun, fast paced thriller. it took a second to really get into the story but i think finn did a really good job at setting the scene and character up. i didn’t expect a couple of the twists and i liked that there were multiple. i figured some out but i think that just comes with reading thrillers a lot. this was a one sitting read for me because it was so fast paced but it did kind of drag a liiittlleee bit in the middle. i think if this book would’ve been edited down like, 50-75 pages it would’ve been a 5 star read!

This book started slow but once it hit, it went quick. I enjoyed the story overall. I know that with thrillers or mysteries there is a necessary evil where the culprit must reveal themself and then go on to explain their master plan and reasoning behind every action you questioned throughout the book. It provides a lot of answers in a short amount of time. However, without any spoilers, the culprit’s explanation in this book just annoyed me. I saw the twist coming from a long way off but no other answers were provided until the very end. I really wish it could have been more gradual somehow.

I enjoy reading thrillers, but the last few I’ve read (while they kept me interested) all seem to have a lot of nothing happening. I felt like once the book got started, there was a lot going on in this book! Especially when you consider that you are stuck inside the house of a woman living alone for 99% of it. I’m happy I didn’t give up on thrillers before reading this!

I like how A J Finn is working within the context of old thriller movies and how she combines elements of Hitchcock and other classics through the story. The story is a slow burn, and at points it felt incredibly slow. It took me a bit longer to get through the book until it picked up at the end. There were some interesting plot twists, but I was often frustrated with the main character. However *spoiler!* I think it was a bit in bad taste to make the villain a previous foster care child when foster children face enough negative stereotypes. But I can acknowledge how it fits the protagonist's history as a child psychologist.
