Weirdly enough I finished this book on the same day five years ago. I will reread more Colleen Hoover books because I enjoyed this again.
I really wish I could give this book a higher rating because it had some super cute scenes that were just so heartwarming to read but the underlying hypocrisy of them and their actions just would not leave my mind and dampened the reading experience for me unfortunately. Sydney and Ridge are two characters I have conflicting feelings about and the book as a whole gave me very back and forth emotions as to how I was vibing with it. And no matter how cute the ending I still could not get the themes of hypocrisy out of my head which is so upsetting but nothing I can help.
Slow paced and lost my interest at times, but I loved the music connection and sweet ending. It could have been shorter but it redeemed itself with the last few chapters.
For me this was an average novel. On this plus side I thought that the characters were likeable and I felt reasonably invested int the outcome of each main person. On the negative side the plot is pretty restricted, there isn't a lot going on besides the major tension between Sydney and Ridge and I felt that the whole plot could be summarised it about two sentences. Despite this the novel is enjoyable to read, I just don't feel that I learnt a whole lot from it and I probably won't remember what happened in the book in a few years.
I didn’t think I would end up liking this one as much as I did. It was a little slow at the start for me but about a third of the way through it picked up and I couldn’t put it down!
I needed a book to get me out of my slump, and as usual, Colleen Hoover did it! This book was a different take than her usual books. I enjoyed all the elements, and I wanted to keep reading to find out all of the unknowns!
When. Will. Writers. Stop. Writing. Toxic. Men. And. Relationships. As. If. They’re. Romantic. STOP! It’s not cute. It’s not sweet. It’s not hot. Men who respect women are hot. Write them. This was almost a DNF but I finished it just so that I could give an honest review.
