Before anything else, be prepared. CW: on page depiction of physical violence against a woman by her ex. Also, on page death of a parent.

I enjoyed returning to the Briar U world again. Shane and Diana’s story was full of good banter- between them as a couple, but also among the friends. It was the fast paced, fun, comedic joy that is Elle Kennedy’s writing at its best!

Fake dating and forced proximity (Shane becomes her next door neighbor) with a fun summer vibe- yes please. No third act breakup- appreciated. Hearing about more of Gigi and Ryder’s wedding from their friend’s POV- love it.

BLAKE LOGAN stole the show- my favorite character in the whole book!!!! My hope is her book has her bringing a football player to his knees.

Honorable mention to Coach Jensen- made me laugh and cry

Never related to how a character and their feelings are described quite like Diana. A very emotional read for sure. Many tears shed. Yet also quite healing.

This book had a lot going on and something about it's pacing felt somewhat off for me. I felt like the beginning dragged along for a little bit and the climax of the book with Shane and Diana admitting their feelings extended beyond fake dating and friends with benefits seemed somewhat rushed. I wish that we got to see a little bit more of them admitting their changing feelings because there was plenty of places where it could have been expanded on and where there could be less about their neighbor not liking noise and them watching a love island/bachelor in paradise style show. I think I raise the same issues with this as I did in The Graham Effect, that I think the book would be alot more enjoyable with 2 less subplots and 75 less pages.

As someone who read the book on kindle unlimited but owns a physical copy, I'm glad the domestic violence content warning and resource information was included in the ebook but I wish that would have also been included of the first edition printing.

Putting a lot of trust in Elle that The Charlie Method will end the series on a higher note and be MMF because if the multiple mentions of Will never being with a guy before don't get delivered on in their story I will be disappointed.
