Interesting.
Give me a sky burial please!

I really appreciated different cultural views of honoring our loved ones in death. I do hope the West will take a more involved approach in the future. The disconnect I feel lays in the continued promotion of the individualized and less in the collective experience.

I wasn’t sure if I was ready for this book because I’ve always been terrified of death and dying. Now that I’ve finished it, I cannot commend Caitlin Doughty enough for her research into rituals and practice around death. There’s something healing and positive in these practices, and I wish America could accept other cultures’ beliefs: around death and other spiritual beliefs.

I thought this book was surprisingly touching. I almost teared up a few times thinking of ways to honor our dead. Great book! Also and very fast read.
