T.J. Payne

3.7 AVERAGE

This is my second T.J Payne novel this year. I have also read Intercepts which I really enjoyed (rated 4*)
I absolutely loved this book. The plot is so unique, exciting and kinda messed up but in the best way. I haven't read anything with this kind of story line before. This plot would make a really cool movie.
Everything that happens in this story is so faced paced and suspenseful. It hooked me and I couldn't put this book down.
the whole premise of wanting revenge on all the people who wronged you is fucked up and pathetic lol. I hated the bride & groom for their whiney, pity party. High school sucks, get over it.

This book is kinda violent so if you aren't into that kinda thing, including some graphic portrayals of death and injuries, give this one a miss!
I could say so much about the plot but I don't want to spoil it.  You should read this book.

Gritty and entertaining.

It was a quick read but ultimately you fall in love with the characters. In the end everything works out. I was pleased with the way the story unfolded. Its certainly an event to remember.

An easy, if forgettable, read. There was only one moment that really shocked me, and that was in the first few pages. Caleb's invitations to Amy really set a nice tone. I was a little bored, but I think that's mostly because the villains were so one-dimensional. Caleb was a little interesting, but the way the cookie crumbled for him wasn't very satisfying.

WTF Did I Just Read

I'm still trying to figure out what I just read. It was a mix of The Purge and Hunger Games, but I also loved this wild ride. Does that make me demented? Oh well!

It’s easy to make comparisons to Hostel or Battle Royale here, but I think it’s still a solidly unique little story that’s well paced and fun. I’m impressed by this author’s ability to toe the line of making it gory enough but not going into extreme horror. I also found the ending fun - I vehemently don’t want a sequel but I like the opening of having my own what ifs about the whole situation.

I also love how Caleb is portrayed. We’ve all known a guy just like him and woo boy is he an absolutely repulsive fuck.
