Really dry book. The beginning and end were about the actual collapse and were interesting, but the middle, which comprised most of the book, was about the societies that existed at the time and was much less interesting and harder to follow.
Also, I read the audio version, which the author narrates himself, and he is not an engaging narrator.

This is a very scholarly work, but well worth a read. In fact, well worth a re-read. It's densely packed with historical names and places, such that having an atlas open nearby would be helpful.

This book was a good compact history of the end of the late bronze age. A particularly concern area in history that has proven hard to understand. I believe this book proposed a solid hypothesis of what happened to draw the empires/civilizations to an end during this time period.

One of the best to ever do it.

A bit denser and dryer than I would've liked, but perhaps that's also due to the relative ignorance about the period and an equivalent book about the Fall of Rome would read a lot better

I thought this was very well done. The author takes the time to really explain all of the civilizations impacted, explores all of the theories, and provides ample evidence as to why he thinks what happened, happened. I also appreciate that he revised this book to include new discoveries and evidence found after the first publication.

Could do better to include thermodynamic considerations in its modeling of complexity and collapse
