What I liked that made me give 3 stars instead of one or two:
- Tharix,
although we were totally left hanging at the end. What happened with him??? He was the most interesting character in this book, yet we got no kind of closure for him. - The overall magic system for this series was interesting, despite most of the characters and scenes being ridiculous, annoying, or otherwise cringe-worthy and making me want to stop reading. I can't believe I made it through the whole series (I skimmed, a lot)
- Darius and Gabriel were pretty good characters that helped me get through to the end
- Diego.
He was the only character I actually felt emotional over in this series, despite him being a relatively minor character and, ya know, dead.
I honestly don't think I can ever read anything else by these authors. I didn't hate this series by any means, but it was definitely a struggle to trudge through the thick sludge that is their writing style. It's crazy how the pacing can feel quick while also feeling like there are way too many words describing what's going on. And there isn't a lot of variation to their sentences and descriptions so it gets really burdensome to read after a while. Even after giving myself several months buffer before reading this last book, it was still a chore to get through.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Death, Violence, and War
