Literally the first half of the book is just filler. Loved Darcys ring bit but All the good shit happens at the end. Clyde was easily defeated which is fucking annoying with how OP they made him seem. The shadow bitches death should've been more torturesome. Lionels death was satisfying for sure. But Clyde was fucking pointless. He literally had 0 plot

Took me a while to get into it but once I was in I was hooked. I loved how they fleshed out the war and how it didn’t seem rushed. These books are still memes tho
slow-paced

Ok I hated this book, I found the end of this series dragged! In the end I only read Seth n Caleb’s chapters everyone else had driven me mad by this point

I cried through the entire last 1/4 of this book with both happy and sad tears. I didn’t want it to end.

I never wrote a review for this one?? I had so much to say but then it all became condensed into sadness.
I have loved this series for so long, when i first read the first book in the series i remember vividly it had barely 1000 ratings. I lived and breathed this series, they meant the world to me. But this book was painful, the decline of ZA has been evident from the last 3 books in the saga but i'd hoped there would be some kind of redemption or miracle that would bring this book to the same level as its predecesors, it didn't, of course. This book was GENUINE torture to read, bad writing, filler chapters everywhere from characters no one cares about. It felt like i was grasping for crumbs with the vegacrux and bluelance scenes, IT SHOULDN'T FEEL THAT WAY! Its the last book, give me a thousand more vegacrux dates than some useless chapter about xavier doing whatever no one cares about him!!! I truly had the worst time reading this book and the only reason i finished it is because not doing so would have been even more heartbreaking.
And don't get me wrong, i don't write this from a place of hatred, but from the perspective of a long time fan shattered by the ending of one of her favourite series.

An epic battle is only so when the hero is on the cusp of death as they try to kill their enemy. not while they’re fighting random unnamed soldiers. not while they’re trying to keep themselves alive. only in the instance of the first scenario.

Anyways, I still really loved books 4-8 so glad those exist. And thank you also for making sure everyone stays alive. it’s lowers the stakes and makes it underwhelming, but it also just gives it a nice ending cause literally none of them had any time to be happy so there’s that.
