“Death couldn’t have me now or ever, because I belonged to her. I would lay in no grave until our life was well-worn and her smile had brightened thousands of glorious days. We were meant to rise with tomorrow’s sun, and I would see that dawn in with my love by my side come what fucking may.”

Listen, I absolutely adore this series and standby that it is still a worthwhile investment but this final book was underwhelming and incredibly frustrating. As someone who has been captivated by these characters for so long, and patiently waited and stood by the delays because I don't believe in rushing authors to end a series, I wanted a worthy ending for these characters I grew to love. I think the ending they got was worthy but the end process to get there was not. There was entirely too much filler and plot lines that did nothing to advance the major plot line, characters seemed out of sorts or not in character in their actions, plot mysteries that were incredibly obvious (cough cough stone circle cough cough), plot points that were part of the entire series dropped completely (prophecies anyone?...I spent entirely too much time analyzing those for them to never be mentioned in the final book), new villains or information dumping that was resolved quickly/didn't seem to be necessary and finally jokes, that used to have me in tears laughing so hard, were reused and fell flat.

I really hate that I didn't love this final book but I have to be honest. I still adore this series as a whole and would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for a light dark fantasy series that includes: over the top alpha males and females, bully romance, enemies to lovers, magic, and hilarious character relationships and moments.

“We had been two lost girls adrift in the mortal realm, but here, in this wilderness of magic and endless love, we had found ourselves at home.”

Wow finally made it though.

That was a journey! Ummmm what to say about this book. Honestly the last two books had way too many unnecessary POV’s. Like 1 chapter of Washers POV? Why even include it if it’s just one? And of all people him? Ew.

The entire plot line of Tory and Darcy being trapped and having dopplegangers doing shit for only like 3-5 chapters in the beginning was so dumb. I’m glad it only last that long and Darius knew immediately that wasn’t them. And then they broke out immediately. But at that point, just take it out of the storyline.

Too many side quests in the beginning. Holy shit!

Also what happened to the Kyra character who had like 2 chapters and k thought was important to Clindamycin?

Let’s talk the good:
All of battle scenes from this book great! Loved them! The battle scene at the academy, the car chase one, and obvi the big ass ending battle scene! Lovvved!!

My only huuuuge gripe being:

WTF WAS THAT ENDING FOR LIONEL???? I needed that to be way more climactic and gruesome and at least like 5-8pages. That final battle scene was 150 pages and you mean to tell me that they spent like 3 pages of the group leaving Tharix out of getting in on the vengeance. Not even a word in edgewise. Then have the main group slowly stalk him in the underbelly of the mountain. Literally walking. And then like 3-4 characters get a one liner at him. And then Tory just shoves her dagger in him and he’s dead??? I wanted like Tory and Xavier to kick him around a good decent amount, have some good quips, and then for maybe Tharix to have to go in and save Xavier from an almost blow (not life threatening, but enough that warrants Tharix to feel some brotherly love to help) and then Darius seeing his half brother protect Xavier makes him get even angrier, and then him and his dad fight hard Fae on Fae (maybe the group won’t let him leave like the coward he had been in the past) and then Darius finally takes his dad down by cutting his head off! And then he presents it to Tory and Darcy while kneeling before them. Like that’s the epic ending for Lionel I expected. Rant over lol

Best book in the series solely for the ending. I have never cried more with the ending of a series. Ugh what a good book
