Kerrie (Olivia) will never forget what Jordan (Jordana) did. Jordan's actions that last day Kerrie saw her changed the path of Kerrie's life and cost her everything she loved. Jordan ran away and never looked. She's never wanted to remember her painful past. When Kerrie saw Jordan on T.V. the memories came flooding back and her revenge plot is born.

I really enjoyed the mystery the author spun. The author keeps you in suspense u till she fi ally reveals exactly what happened between Kerrie and Jordan. The story is told through both point of views and include flashbacks to add context. The author does a great job of weaving both stories together but keeping each individual's perspective.

Revenge is supposed to be easy. However, the author illuminates how complex it can get as she takes you through Emily's struggle with revenge, as well as, her own need to forge a new, happier life for herself. I found myself struggling to "hate" Jordana after hearing her entire story. The author does a great job of illuminating the fact that situations aren't always black and white, especially when abuse and trauma propel people to survive.

Overall, this was a great read but I felt the ending was a bit rushed. This is the only reason why I'm giving a 4 star rating. Thanks to the publishers for the ARC and chance to provide an honest review.

This one was okay. It's basically a revenge fantasy. There's plenty that pushes the boundary of believability, including a main character moving to Manhattan on a whim, randomly emailing a stranger for a highly coveted job (& getting it) and the ease of renting and moving about NYC with nearly zero planning. There's even a makeover that I'm sure would make a great movie montage scene set to an upbeat pop song.

The book is written from two perspectives, Kerrie and Jordana, who are ruthless narrators. They're both pretty--as the title demands. And they have this 'not like other girls' vibe that rubbed me the wrong way at times. I'm not sure who I was supposed to root for, if anyone, because I really didn't take to either.

None of the characters really talk like people do. Like I said, it reads like someone's fantasy. It reminded me of a Facebook post telling a story of something that totally, definitely happened and ended with "and then everyone clapped". So many of the characters felt like line item stereotypes: cheating asshole husband, check; materialistic, vapid women, check; rich hottie who's above all that stuff and really 'sees' our heroine...you get it. I also found the guy that we're supposed to like completely insufferable, so there's that.

It's just too predictable. I feel like the author could have played with our expectations and really surprised the audience, but ah well. It's not bad, but I won't remember I read it a month from now.

I expected a lot more from this. Slightly disappointing.

Kerrie has lost everything important to her. Her parents, and even worse, her Nana. Jordan is the one that ruined her life. 18 years later when Kerrie sees that Jordana, as she now goes by, runs a successful business and it looking to hire help, Kerrie uproots her life to extract revenge. She changes her looks and gets hired to ruin Jordana from the inside out.

I really enjoyed this book. I listened to this one on audio and I loved following the story through the two different viewpoints. There were a few times where I wondered if Kerrie was taking her revenge plot too far, but that’s the glory of this kind of story. You root for one, then you root for the other, and in the end you don’t really know who to root for!
mysterious medium-paced
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A very short summery: One night, the paths of two girls briefly crossed. Flash forward almost twenty years .... one woman consumed with revenge, comes up with a plan to destroy the other’s life.

This was a binge read for me where, for a change, both women are fairly likable, but conflicted. Unfortunately I was surprised at how underwhelmed I was when the secrets are revealed.

Pretty Revenge unfolds in the form of a tennis match between two women who met only once on a night that changed each of them dramatically forever. We don't get any details from that night until very late in the game, but it's referenced (rather blandly) throughout the book. Personally, I wanted more of those lingering thoughts - particularly from Kerrie. When Kerrie changes herself completely to integrate seamlessly and irrevocably in Jordan's life almost 20 years later, the reader knows that something dramatic is imminent.

The pace is quick and this is a binge worthy read. It is not, however, a thriller. There's no suspense, no big twists. Everything unfolds exactly how you expect if you were paying attention. There's a romantic subplot that felt out of place and distracting from the overarching theme of revenge.

I found myself not really rooting for either character. Both were birthed in tragedy and picked themselves up and clawed their way to the inevitable conclusion, but their narration and inner thoughts were vapid and very chick-lit (which is not what I signed up for). And by the end, neither of them was 100% sold on what they were doing, so all the passion and drive fizzled out.

If you're looking for a fast read with two complex and sympathetic characters, Pretty Revenge is a good choice!

Kerri, now Olivia, wants revenge of Jordan, now Jordana. After the terrible wreckage jordana left behind years ago, Olivia decides to infiltrate her life. She quickly gets herself hired as Jordana’s assistant at her wedding planning company. From there, Olivia slowly starts to sabotage Jordana.

What I loved: I loved the wedding planning business aspect. Seeing that and the positive interactions our two characters were having was fun to read. The writing style was my type of writing and I enjoyed the plot of the book.

What I didn’t: Olivia’s determination seemed high, but her actions were weak. She didn’t really pull too many punches and the ones she causes little to no disruption. Even the “big” one was not really big for Jordana. The ending was a bit nice.

For a book that teases out shock and surprise it really falls flat. All the suspense is unsuspensefully revealed early in the book leaving the ending flat and uneventful. Once you know all the secrets there really isn’t much left except characters you never really invested in wrapping up and a boring attempt at wrapping up the story with a bow. I’d pass on this one.

Kerrie is not happy with her life, she got a stale relationship and now jobless she wants a change and when she hear Jordana’s voice on tv a plan forms.

Jordana grew up in a bad house hold and was desperate to break free of her fathers grip so she does something that sets Kerrie’s life and future completely off the course imagined. Kerrie blames Jordana for everything that has happened to her because in her mind it all started with the incident Jordana was responsible for.

The writing of this was good and I really enjoyed the split perspectives, I would say this is more of a light mystery more contemporary. I was expecting a Physiological thriller but it wasn’t, regardless I did enjoy this. Kerries applies for an assistant job to get close to Jordana to ruin her life like she did to her. An eye for an eye.

The build up was good, met Daniel who we like and root for and who Kerrie get besotted by. There a few side characters you kind of mull over but there was nothing really there to give them some of the spot light. Apart from Sarah who was a fun edition and who was there to actually help the plot.

All in all I liked how the story unfolds and how it was told, I just wish that the reveal was more dramatic and it felt weird that everything tied up in to a neat little bow. I fell like after everything that happened there would still be a lot of things up in the air.
