aaaa i finished !! this is the first manga series i've ever finished and it made me so emotional. my favorite things about evangelion were it's characters and the relationships and deep feelings that they had, shinji was definitely my favorite character
*plot, writing, artwork*
the plot developed in a very interesting way, i loved the concept of angels and the evas and i was always so invested everytime misato or kaji revealed information to shinji, i felt exactly like him.
the manga was really poetic at times and that's what i loved the most, i wasn't expecting such beautiful writing. the artwork was also stunning, i wanted to keep every single panel in my head.
*characters*
as i said before, shinji was my favorite character. i think in the manga you get to understand him better because he's more vocal about his feelings. he said to misato multiple times how hurt he was by his dad, shinji only wanted appreciation from him (and at first, that was his only drive to get into the eva) — it was beautiful to see shinji make friends and start to care for other people (misato, toji, rei, asuka, kaworu) and it hurt even more to see him lose them one by one :( he deserved a hug
apart from shinji, my two other favorite characters were kaji and misato. they are my parents and i love them very much

Evangelion is not an easy series. I’m not saying that it’s too deep/complex for readers to understand, or that it’s only for a subset of people. In fact, I sincerely think that NGE is a series meant for everyone that everyone has the capability of enjoying. heck, even my high school physics teacher said that this was her favorite series growing up. (love u, high school physics teacher!)
But Neon Genesis Evangelion bites at your core. At risk of sounding pedantic, I will say this: it understands what it means to be alive, to make mistakes, and to know another human person. It explores the intricacies and bluntness of humanity through the lens of a totally absurd (yet totally engrossing and believable???) event. The characters are so blindingly real that I’m shocked that I didn’t evaporate upon grasping their personalities.
Reading Evangelion from start to finish, I was entranced, just as I was when I first watched the series. I liked all the little changes from the anime and the author’s notes/extras at the end of each volume. Evangelion’s always going to have a special place in my heart. I’m glad I read the manga.

This is the end of the manga. And it is a far less cynical conclusion than we got with the anime. I've really enjoyed reading these and seeing the plotting and characterization changes between the original story told in the anime and the manga. That being said, this volume contains a basic remix of the bulk of the navel-gazing from End of Evangelion. Interesting and subtle alterations but the bones of the same tale are there.

AHHH OKAY IM VERY GLAD THIS IS HOW THE MANGA ENDED I REALLY LIKED IT :-] NGE REDEMPTION ARC IN MY HEAD not really but wouldn’t it be fun if it was true anyway the manga was VERY good I really liked it quite a lot it fixed a bit of some of my issues and didn’t really introduce any new ones so! So! Nice. Pleased.
Also the epilogue w Yui’s lesbian rival was fun. Sure do need answers as to why Mari From Rebuild is based off her though HELLO!!!!!!!!

A bit more accessible than the movie finale. Wonderfully done.
