3.5 stars. Fun and easy read, a nice break from the much more intense Heroes of Olympus books. Apollo is a fun narrator!
I felt like it dragged a bit in the second half because the location never really changed...but there were plenty of good character moments and fun cameos to keep me invested.

Wasn't happy with the start, felt a bit too rinse and repeat, after all, with the Titans and Gaia defeated, what villain can you bring into the equation to create a greater sense of tension and fear?
The answer? Humans. Or rather, an terrible triumvurate from the Roman Age which has ascended to Godhood and spun a spidery web which led to the apocalyptic events of the last few series'.
And the now mortal Apollo must face them, armed only with what talents he has as a geeky human called Lester. Thus begins Rick Riordan's latest story, and though it feels a bit hackneyed and more of the same kinds after his previous books, his ability to make the reader 'feel' and make the characters humane, while still keeping his brand of sarcastic humour and wit as they take on monsters and gods coupled with a well-done twist made for a fun, light and yet worthwhile read.
A 3 leaning to 3.5 for this one.
