I never knew Apollo could be so insufferable and yet I still am rooting for him? Like— he’s growing, albeit, he’s still an egotistical asshole, but also…
Plot wise, this book was kinda slow. Not really faulting it though, and it was shorter than I expected. Percy is hilarious, we love Percy. And Nico and Will?! 😭 my babies, they are so cute!
I was gasped by the plot twist,Meg I feel like I’m loosing my groove. But also, DAMN I WASNT EXPECTING THAT! Really hope she gets a redemption arc— or just a not-evil arc
I love this book alone based on how much I laughed. The narration of Apollo is so funny in the way it’s so… egotistical and motherfuckerly that you can’t help but laugh and then root for him. Because the story is framed so that, although he is the narrator, the writer doesn’t approve of him being an asshole and neither do the other characters. I’ve dnfed many a book with an unlikable mc/narrator but I didn’t with this one (I did pause it for a bit because my library book hold lapsed but I was 20 pages in)— I didn’t dnf it because the world is clearly established around Apollo to be anti- him being an ass, and honestly I was rooting for him because he was changing. Truly a remarkable feat of Rick Riordan, round of applause.
I might have to break down and buy the next book…

I loved it.
The same creative, enjoyable world of the Greek and Roman mythologies. The same lovable characters and Apollo as a bonus :D He was great, a god turned mortal, having to live with our limitation and developing human feelings and conscious. That showed a lot in the scenes between him and his children, which were cute and weird. He felt contradicted. He was supposed to protect them and comfort them but it was the other way around, except for the ending of course, when he saved them. I felt sorry for him, when was trying to use his powers and there was nothing. He fell so hard :(
I can never get enough of Riordan's worlds, always fun to visit. It was great seeing old characters and knowing how they're doing. Percy was the first character to show up, of course, he is first in everything :D and then by the end Leo Valdez <3 which was his first appearance after his big stunt in the blood of Olympus. I'm guessing we'll be seeing all the other heroes through out the rest of the series.
I loved Meg. She was fun and interesting. I knew there was something off about her, but being with the bad guys from the start, i felt like Luke all over again. The difference is Meg is still good. She's just badly influenced by her step father, Nero.
The plot was cool, mixing the mythologies with the modern world. Now the bad guys aren't titans or giants or evil gods. They're human roman emperors made immortal by there legends. Three notorious emperors and their evil cooperation. The first one we meet in Nero, he is completely insane. I was reminded with a documentary I saw once about his life, that guy is a fire loving, head full of bananas emperor :D
Apollo is one of my favorite gods from the start. He is interesting for me, being the god of prophecies. Now the plot is about saving the oracles one by one.
I had fun listening to him narrate his story, he was hilarious. A god and a teenager at the same time :D with an ego the size of the moon...sorry, the sun :D
I can't wait to find out what the trio will do in the next adventure, Apollo, Calypso and Leo :D that'll be fun.
A never a dull moment as usual.

I love Percy's world and everyone that lives there. This novel is kind of like a warm hug. Familiar face pop in and out. Overall, Rick Riordan provides a strong plot that continues to strengthen our love for all things Greek mythology.
