I don’t care what anyone says I absolutely adore Apollo!
I do wish that Rick Riordan had kept the original tone from Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus where it had a good mix of humor and camp without coming off as being at the expense of emotional complexity and earnestness.

This is classic Riordan: snarky and intelligent characters, hilarious and dangerous missions and a whole lot of fanservice.
I love Apollo - his attitude and personality are exactly what you would expect from a vain God who now finds himself in the body of an acne-prone teenager. Already, we're seeing his character develop and I'm excited to see how he changes over the rest of the series. I love that we're getting to see a different side to the world through Apollo's anecdotes and reminisces.
However, aside from Apollo and his unique perspective, the story doesn't do anything particularly new. We're still seeing all the old characters, the plot is in the same vein as the other Camp Half-Blood series and it has started to become a little predictable and safe. But don't get me wrong, it's still a lot of fun and I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
If you haven't read the Heroes of Olympus series, you will be spoilt, so go and read that first!
