I enjoyed reading this book! I have been a Terri Blackstock fan for years, and this was a good addition to her books! The main characters were interesting, and I really liked their backstory. I did guess who the bad guy was fairly early on, but I was still intrigued to find out the motive and how it would all end. The last few chapters were intense, and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished, even though I needed to get my kids ready for the day! I’m glad I read it, and I look forward to more books by Terri Blackstock in the future!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

fast-paced
I always enjoy a good mystery and this book doesn’t disappoint. The great story/world-building that Blackstock does make this a quick, easy read that has me following Dustin, Jamie, and Taylor as the crime occurs, unravels, and is solved. She gives the reader relatable, and likeable characters who have flaws just as all humans do. I could feel the emotions/struggles of all the main characters and I couldn’t put it down.
It is a Christian-based story; Not jammed down your throat, but woven seamlessly into the story to add depth. This book touches on terrorism, fear & trauma that heavily affects mental health, sickness, death, but also friendship in both good and bad ways. The culprit was slowly revealed, not with a huge bang, but it played out more realistically. But I think that was the point, not who did it, but how we react AFTER the tragedy.
Thank you @partnersincrimeVBT for the ARC.

A huge thanks to Thomas Nelson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Oh man, this book was a surprise read! Someone pinch me and then pinch me some more because I have been sleeping on Terri Blackstock and now I am awake and ready for all her books. So Taylor is at a concert with her friends when a bomb explodes *sigh* but thankfully she survives. Immediately after Duston Webb an ex-army guy is picked up after an anonymous tip for the explosion and he ends up calling his childhood neighbor Jamie to help him. Oh, mayn the twists and turns in this book are everything. I don’t want to spill some good tea but read it when it comes out
Wow! I could not put this one down! Blackstock starts this book off with a bang - literally, with a bomb exploding in the midst of a concert and political rally. We are then introduced to Dustin, who claims he has been set up for the bombing when police find explosive chemicals in the trunk of his car. He calls childhood friend, Jamie Powell and together, the two of them seek to discover who truly planted the bomb and why Dustin was framed for the catastrophic event. Unique to this story is the additional perspective of this story told by Taylor, a young girl who was at the concert and political rally, but who also experiences OCD. Sharing Taylor's story not only provided the perspective of a victim but also gives a small peek into how a person with OCD may cope with trauma and the loss of two friends as a result of that trauma.
I could hardly put Aftermath down. I loved the characters' past history and how that played into their interactions throughout the story. I also really enjoyed reading the story from the perspective of a victim, and the person framed for the story. I feel it's not a perspective often written in the suspense novels that I read and It brought a fresh feeling to the telling of this story. I also enjoyed the glimpse into a character who struggles with a mental health diagnosis. Again, not often something I see written about. I did find myself wondering how true the writing of Taylor is to the struggles of a person diagnosed with OCD, but that did not overwhelm the actual telling of the story.
I read aftermath pretty much in two sittings because I wanted to see the outcome of the story. I did figure out some of the ending about halfway through the story, but it did not take away from the overall arch of the story for me.
**Trigger warning: This story contains death as a result of cancer, and OCD.**
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This review is my own, honest opinion.

Wow! I have just finished reading this book and can't quite express how deeply it is affecting me. I'm afraid I had lunch ready a bit late one day as I was so caught up in the story. I must say before I go any further that I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Terri Blackstock does such an admirable job with her characters. Often in Christian fiction, characters are so syrupy sweet that they seem a bit fake. The characters in this book seem real because they are flawed. I feel like I got to know them through their actions in the book and their backstories. I cared about them. In fact, I still care about them and want to read more.
This book is exciting, sad, energetic, suspenseful, tender, loving, and smart. Women are portrayed as strong and confident. Men are shown to be caring and hard working. I liked seeing both genders as professionals and caregivers.
Some topics included in the story are terrorism, crime investigation, cancer, and mental disorder (OCD). I didn't feel that these issues were brought up just to be sensational. They were integral to the story.
I greatly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more from this author.
