This was good! Honestly nothing too special or memorable for me. I'm kind of mixed when it comes to Emily Henry books—I loved Book Lovers when I first read it, but recently tried to reread and just couldn't. I absolutely LOVED Funny Story, but didn't care much for Happy Place or People We Meet On Vacation.
I did really love January and Gus. I'm glad I read this.

I was halfway through the book when I realized January and August are named after seasons.
I absolutely loved this, it may also be because the last book I read by Emily Henry I did not enjoy as much (Happy Place). However, this was so good that my heart would pinch every time these two would yearn after each other. Something I have been noticing is that Emily Henry usually writes her subplot around some kind of parent conflict and I think it helps appeal to all kinds of audience since I can safely say we all have had some kind of parent conflict in our lifetime.
I can also safely say that like January my diet consist of Ramen and Pop Tarts as well. No shame my friend.

This was definitely Henry at her best so far. This was a great book; an easy contender among some great romance books. But I don’t think it’s entirely worth the crazy amount of hype it has. While I feel very satisfied with the romance, almost every other part of this just wasn’t quite fleshed out enough for me. I’m hoping there’s growth in this area in the next books because this wasn’t the first of Henry where I felt this way.
I understand where the banter hype comes from now though. And the chemistry between characters that she had been doing well all along is just insanely amplified.
A very solid 4.5 that should almost be a 5 down to a 4.5 (comparatively speaking).
