"Truth is a hard dear to hunt. If you eat too much truth at once, you may die of the truth."

I read this in preparation for observing a freshman Humanities class. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to hearing what a group of 14 year-olds perceive.

“We must build again”

A somber and reflective post apocalyptic tale with a surprisingly positive endnote.

Throughout the story I just assumed that the world had undergone a nuclear disaster, but written in 1937, 4 years before the Manhattan project, Benét was referring to the mass destruction of Guernica and the use of chemical weapons in WW1, which just goes to show, that each generation have their own fears.

I use this short story in my English 10 class. It is so much fun to watch the students attempt to figure out exactly what is going on, where it is going on, and what might have happened in the past. It's awesome.

I didn't really care about this book. There could of been more plot and character stuff instead of it just being a short 32 page story.

Post apocalyptic. Not my thing.
