I really love this series. I love our two “main” characters if you can actually even call them the main characters there are so many POV’s that feels inaccurate. I will say I am very nitpicky when it comes to endings and this is no different. I will start by saying I love Tasha Suri and their writing. Priya and Malani are some of my favorite flawed characters. I actually love all the characters in this series. The magic and world are lush and some of my favorites. I think it was a little weird to do even more world building in the finale and I really think we spent too much time on things that didn’t need that much time and not enough on the things that needed it. The ending itself felt a little too “neatly wrapped bow” for my liking. Especially with the amount of war that this series deals with. I will say I adore the conversations about faith, misogyny, and sacrifice that are always present in this one. Overall it’s a 4 star series for me but not my favorite ending.

The shift of relationships in this story. The anger and rage as well. The war, choices, and betrayals of all have changed people and there is this overall desperate sense of trying to survive.

The plot pulled me in. This book really caused me to reflect on how far the characters have come since book one and how their experiences have changed them.

This ending was not all happily ever after but was painful and sad. It had hardship to it. There is a happy ending for the characters but it is a rose with some very sharp thorns.

where do i even begin?! best book of 2024 in my opinion. an incredible end to a fantastic trilogy that literally made me sob through the last five or six chapters. not only is suri's writing so vivid and beautiful but the worldbuilding is so insanely detailed and complex. i'm mourning this trilogy because i know i will never find anything that lives up to it (except maybe samantha shannon's works).
