An adorable cover - reminds me of a LFL we found in Bermuda.

Grandma Mimi's advice: "Pastures anew." A car named Betsy,

"Grow up, calm down, and generally get a grip." Great advice.

A reference to a dad baby-sitting and the correction of parenting. I agree with this.

The post office is closing - the horror!

I didn't like that Jess told her friends what books people were borrowing. That should be more private.

"She needed the ladder from the privy."

"I sent away for this little stamp." Big fan of rubber stamps!

Talked about Daphne duMaurier, but not as fans of "Rebecca."

And, finally, the notes Mimi wrote in some of the books. Yes, please.

#readingchallenge2023 (my book featuring a love triangle)

A charming story for those who love books about books, small-town quirky characters, and predictable but satisfying plots-which I do!

This little story about an even littler community, transformed through the power of books & friendship, was very quaint.

Though categorized as a ‘romance read’, I felt the romance was second to the larger story of the town dynamics-

Overall, there wasn’t much to the story, the actual plot/climax took too long, meandering on Jess’ relationships-overly slowly developing-could have used more development (&meaning)-cozy but shallow, definitely has stagnant moments where there was more potential to be interesting.

Loved the cover of this book and the premise sounded good. However I thought the pace was a little slow at times. I found rhe ending very unfulfilling as it seemed extremely rushed and sudden.

The cute cover and title ( plus it being categorized as a romance) had me slamming the request button. I was SO excited to read this; it seemed like a book lover's dream! Unfortunately, it was not quite what I expected. This book is VERY descriptive; I found myself skimming pages on pages of scenery descriptions. Another distraction from the main plot was the undeveloped five-ish subplots that took away majorly from the story. I am not sure you can classify this book as a romance either; the main characters kiss once .. twice?

Not to be negative, I did like a few aspects of this book! I enjoyed how Jess opened the library, filled it with her dead grandmother's books, and read how she cared for it, also how the little library brought the community together and provided an oasis for many of the sub-characters.

Thank you, NetGalley and Avon & Harper Voyager, for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.
