Eisner’s last original work before his death in 2005. The absolute master (and arguable originator) of the graphic novel form, Eisner’s history of “The Protocols” is as informative & well-researched as it is gorgeously rendered.

"This patchwork of largely fictional works makes the Protocols an incoherent text that easily reveals its fabricated origins." -Introduction - Umberto Eco

" ... it is not the Protocols that produce antisemitism, it is people's profound need to single out an Enemy that leads them to believe in the Protocols." -Introduction - Umberto Eco

"Whenever one group of people is taught to hate another, a lie is created to inflame the hatred and justify a plot."

"Bah! It is inconceivable in our advanced world for an obvious fraud and forgery to survive!"

"The authenticity of the work does not seem to matter, But that is because the anti-Semite, in the great phrase of Jean Paul Sartre, "turns himself into stone." Bigotry becomes his way of explaining the world without having to justify the explanation through evidence or logic." - Afterword by Stephen Eric Bronner -

As heartbreaking as it is relevant, Will Eisner's final work is a powerful reminder of how convincing falsehoods can be when they confirm one's worldview – regardless of how often they are disproven.

Eindrucksvoller Einblick in die Geschichte des Antisemitismus. Viele Zusammenhänge sind mir jetzt erst wirklich klargeworden.

A graphic history of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion sounds like an interesting idea, but the execution didn't work for me. I liked the fact that I was learning while reading a graphic novel, but this was just so didactic that I don't know if it really made sense as a graphic novel. I understand Eisner wanting to bring this story to a wider audience, but I just kept thinking that the amount of text would drive away someone not looking for the history.

In the end Eisner does a great job of summing up the history of a troublesome work, and I enjoy his pictures but I would only recommend it to history buffs and not a casual reader

I think I read this early in my adult-graphic-novel period. When I was tracking down all the greats. So duh, I read Eisner.

And I've since referred to this story when I discuss history with friends.

Good, awesome, duh, yes.
