I got lost in the sauce of the arguments between the monks that were not plot relevant.

was a chore reading through the latim part, as it was a lot. but the book was interesting enough and the latim ended up adding their own charm. some parts were chocking for the mind of a naive 15 years old girl so if you are naive do expect some chocking stuff when you read some parts.

All around exactly what I wanted it to be. Enough plot intrigue to keep me reading, enough philosophizing to make me think, and enough obscure references to make me learn new things. Themes, motifs, and lessons were all conveyed with enough subtlety that I could follow them without being told outright, as well as ascribe some of my own interpretations. Elements that were repeated throughout the book without clear meaning were all wrapped up in the end to answer every question. 5/5.
